2004 LLY 4x4 CC SB 4 1/2" rancho on 305's, Bully Dog Power Pup, Automatic
I was in the process of warming it up this morning and as I was grabbing for the shifter, the motor slowly shut down and stopped . The display said "Not Charging" for just a slit second. It turns over fine, but will not fire off, the check engine light and battery lights are on, but the batteries are fine. The doors would lock , but not unlock when I tryed, I had to get my lunch out of the back seat. When I manually unlocked the back door and opened it( the front door still open) the panic alarm went off. My remote keyless pad hasn't worked in about a year, so this alarm was odd. I have 120,000 on it with the Bully Dog Power Pup installed. Other than that , it's stock and the only other problems I've had with the truck is when I put my foot in it the tranny will down shift, but get stuck in that gear and will not up shift threw the gears. Any suggestions would be great. My brother in law is dropping a bran new Snap On scanner by the house tonight so I can see if there are any codes.

First off...when its downshifting and getting stuck thats what is known as limping. Either turn down the tune or pony up for a new transmission because your days are numbered.
As far as the other electrical things, are your batteries the stock original ones? If so, you may want to have them tested to see if they're still okay. My bet is they're probably about done. I had to replace my stockers last fall after 160K miles. Most only get about two - three years out a set of batteries, some more like I did. But these trucks do some strange things when the voltages start fluctuating on dying batteries.

I planned on removing the tuner anyways. " Day are numbered" your starting to scare me there!!!!! What do you mean? Will it correct itself if the factory setting are restored? I was thinking of getting the PCM reflashed a a dealership after tuner removal before this happened.
As for the batteries, they are a out two years old . With a scanner last night when reading, the batteries started out about 12.9 volts and by the time I was finshed they read 11.9 volts. If the Altenator quit, with hot batteries the tru k would run for a little bit right? I planned on getting it checked this weekend if time allowed. Please respond to the Tranny question above.
Thanks

As Skleppy says -- check the batteries
Put your volt meter on the battery terminals while you attempt to start the truck.
12V while cranking shows batteries are fully charged
< 9V batteries are toast
< 10V batteries are marginal
Not as good as a load tester, but should provide good indication.

What I mean by your days are number is that if you keep limping your transmission then you're in line to pull it to rebuild it with some expensive go fast parts or take the tuner out so that your trans will live longer.

sounds like it could be a problem with the VATS (vehicle anti theft system) may try the relearn procedure

Mine did the same thing when my injection pump went out. It died and would turn over, just wouldn't start.

THANKS ALL!!!!!
All the suggestions were great, I got up yesterday morning and first off started pumping the primer to see if I had diesel preasure and I had none. I pumped awhile till the preasure was hard and the bottom fitting on the filter was leaking . I tryed to start it with it pumped up and nothing. I remembered I had a fuel filter on the shelf in the shop so for grins I replace it , I only had 7000 miles on it . BOOM!!!! that was the trick, after I primed the new filter she fired right up. Chalk this one up to luck!!!! Thanks again everybody, and buy the way I took the BD Power Pup programmed out . Whats this thing worth used I think I'll sell it.
Thanks

It wasn't the fuel filter itself, it may have been one of the orings on the filter or the WIF sensor on the bottom itself may be cracked. You may want to pick up one of the plugs that rebel777 has. Replace it once and for and not have to worry about it cracking.

Skleppy , is the plug that rebel777 has a replacement for the WIF? The orings look good, but who knows it run. The WIF looked good a little dirty, but good.

Yeah he had them made up and its a billet piece of aluminum milled to size of the WIF. It'll never crack or have wires break off and then you're out eighty bucks for a new WIF. I can't remember what he's selling them for but its cheaper than a WIF and its a once and for all fix.
