If anybody is looking to build their own mechanical wastegate controller, I found an easy way to do it:
I removed the vacuum actuator from the turbo. I cut the actuator from the bracket at the welds with a hack saw. I welded a washer to the bracket in the same location that the actuator was. This is what the spring now pushes against.
I used threaded to make the connection to the wastegate arm. I simply put a coupling nut on the end of the rod and tapped a screw into the side of the nut to make the connection to the wastegate.
The rest is self explainitory with the spring washers and wing nut. I'll try to post a pic tonight.
