If anybody is looking to build their own mechanical wastegate controller, I found an easy way to do it:

I removed the vacuum actuator from the turbo. I cut the actuator from the bracket at the welds with a hack saw. I welded a washer to the bracket in the same location that the actuator was. This is what the spring now pushes against.

I used threaded to make the connection to the wastegate arm. I simply put a coupling nut on the end of the rod and tapped a screw into the side of the nut to make the connection to the wastegate.

The rest is self explainitory with the spring washers and wing nut. I'll try to post a pic tonight.

I like it. It's much better than stock. However, I've got nothing to compare it to. I also bumped the optic sensor before I got the reflash. I tried to reset it, but I think I went back a little too far... I'll get it dialed in right eventually. Driving on the highway is so much better than before. Power is there when I need it. Boost was holding at 4-6 psi when cruising and peaking at 12 psi at wot. They said it should hold at 18psi but I think that number was a little inflated. Overall, it's good. I'll post mileage in my signature after next fill-up.
