Hi, I am new I just bought a 1995 chevy 2500 4x4 ext cab s vin diesel. It has 192,000 on it and 3inch straight through exhaust. The first thing I did was changed the oil and filter and the fuel filter. The next thing I plan to do is cdr and pmd relocator from ssdiesel. And than probably injectors and so on. One thing I was wondering was why my engine light comes on and off While I drive it. I did the paper clip thing it blinked once than pause and than 6 times. Don't know if that helps any. Any info or help would be great .

Try to get a PMD relocation that goes all the way outside the engine hood with extension.

Trust me, a lot of SSD remote mounted PMD users come back 3 to 6 mo later only to find out that the remote mounted is not remote enough. They said it is new but it is bad. On the intake is still a neighbor. It is not even Seattle to New York.

some guys make their own and mount it behind the glove box or some other area not in the engine bay.....i bought the heath diesel unit for my 4x4 which mounts the fsd on the plastic skid plate in front of the front axle. it came with a thick metal plate for protection then is mounted on another plate for the cooling....have had it there for 3 years now and have had no problems....even made a few stream crossings and have not had any problems caused by water. seems to be sealed pretty good

I am running a Pensacola PMD kit and it has been on for a month. No problems yet. I mounted mine inside the bumper. They sell the extensions for $20-$30 I think. Good luck with the truck.

I mounted mine on a heat sink that I then attached behind the front bumper. The aluminum, vaned heat sink was part of an old car stereo amplifier that I had laying around. I left my original PMD on the truck (wasn't fried) and simply disconnected the wiring harness and bought a harness extension to reach behind the bumper. I used Arctic Silver (from Radio Shack) to attach PMD to heat sink. I have no complaints about this setup and it was MUCH cheaper than buying one of the PMD relocation kits.

Mine already had the SSD unit on the intake. Left it there for quite a while. I moved the heatsink and new FSD behind the bumper a year later with a pmdcable.com extention cable. No issues in two years.

To answer the question about the code 16. it is a problem with the VSS (Vehicle Speed sensor). It is located in the rear of the Xfer case. It is a plug looking thing with some wires going to it. Pull out the VSS and clean it. It that does not help. Replace the sensor Also The buffer may be bad. IIRC the VSS buffer is a module located behind the glove box usually under, above, or near the PCM.
