Just a question. How long will the light stay on in the winter, when it's cold. Right now, the light will come on, but I usually just wait a second and crank it over, fires right up, it's so warm out.

When it gets cold, how long will I have? I know, I know, RTFM, I did, but I don't remember everything, ):h mebbe I should read it again.

Have a good one!!

Living up here, with my truck outside, I usally wait untill the light goes out to start it up. This is not actually needed, but it allows me to check my gauges and other items before jumping in and taking off. My truck is garage kept and even in the garage I still wait.
I know on the Fords that when the light goes out the glowplugs are still working. The light is basicly an indicator and not so much a shut off circut. I am not sure the same can be said for the GM trucks.
One other thing to mention is by waiting it also allows the fuel pump enough time to prime the system incase of flowback.

Here in Denver, in the winter, my 03 will take about 7 to 10 seconds to turn off the light if not plugged in. If the block heater is plugged in, about 2 sec. I try to always plug it in now if the temp is below freezing. Gotta think it's better on the moving parts if they stay a bit warmer.

OK, thanks. Right now it stays on 3-4 seconds and goes out. Enough time for me to put the seatbelt on.

Have a good one!!
