There is a long coiled up wire harness on the frame just behind the cab on the drivers side, whats it for? I ask because I'm getting ready to add a 5th wheel to my 05' and curious if this is some sort of factory harness for that. It looks more than long enough to reach 3/4 of the way down the bed??

It should be the factory harness for the 5th wheel connection. Not standard equipment but is an option. Could make things very easy for you.

I think it is for a slide in camper.

I have it on my truck and wondered the same thing.

I just went and uncoiled it. It sure is a harness for the bed. Thats really handy to have. All I have to do now is drill a hole, mount the plug, and connect the wires.
Now if I could only find the stupid wire harness for the brake controller in the cab. I had a couple of those harnesses but cant find one now. How much are they at the dealership?

You should be able to find one at your local RV store and some even plug directly into the back of your controller. Last I checked they were around 10 bucks.

Where is a good place to mount the harness in the bed? I'm looking at getting a 5th wheel and was wondering where the normal attaching point for the electrical is on a camper. How do they hook up? Is there a double ended male plug for both the truck and camper?

I don't have pic in my garage of it yet, but I drilled a hole on te back stack hole column and mounted the connector there. It looks like a factory outlet. I will try and post some pictures soon.
FYI - dealer says it is an option, but i haven't seen a truck without this coiled up cable yet (even if you order the truck without it)

Mine is mounted just behind the left wheel well and up a few inches.

I like that location too. I saw that pic in another thread but thought it might be a factory option. I'll have to look at mine and see if thats the best option for me.
