Deciding on getting the 52 gal installed but was really hoping to see a picture of one already installed from the side of the truck. Just a bit nervous about how far it hangs down and is seen. Done loads of searches with no result. I've heard it's about 1-2 inches below frame but really need to see it before I go all in. Anyone with that sort of pic please give a shout out, I've emailed titan but no response so far.

Much appreciated,

Paul

I have one, on my 2008. Its lifted so I'm not worried plus I got the spare shield. It's dark here but I'll take pics in the morning. I'm not sure how to post them but i'll figure that out tommorow

Thanks guys, really appreciate it. I've got a couple descent quotes on the tank installed and after thinking about it the titan seems like a better choice for me than an in bed transfer flow tank /tool ( titan single tank to fill, fuel guage remains accurate-dic is off but just double dic fuel range). Can you confirm the install braces work well now and no leak issues- no fuel cooler issues? I was gonna skip the shield since I don't off road--is that ok?

Thanks again guys,
Paul

Those are GREAT, Thanks so much. BTW do you have the shield on?

Ok the first picture is the side view. the truck has a 6 inch fabtech lift (kind of obvious). The Titan tank has the shield on it so it hangs lower. I bought directly from Titan so they included the shield and shipped it to me in So Cal for right around $1000. I had trouble finding anybody on their installed list that would do it for less than $500. So I did it with my nephews and brother in-law. Actually they did it I watched and handed them tools. Install went really well we didn't even lift the truck. I called tech support twice with stupid questions and they answered right away.

The rest of the pictures are from different views, I'm not the best photogapher.
The scratches on the bottom are all from dragging it around during the install not any road or off-road contact.

It does hang down a bit near the center of the frame rail (were the rust scrape is) but the rest isn't bad, there is alway some part of the truck that is just as low. I like having the shield because eventually I'm going to drive to Alaska with a 5th wheel and I'm thinking gravel might get tossed up. It's up to you, the tank itself seems pretty tough. Overall I like it allot had it about 5 monthes no issues , love the extra range.

If you live near Idaho Falls you could get it done there and be around 1/K installed. I have had no issues with the Titan.

Idaho falls is a couple long days away, so not really an option, but a good thought.

It's a ways for me too, just happened to be going through on vacation last year and it worked out well. The fireworks in Idaho Falls on the fourth was wild too....

I bought my 08 about two months ago and it had a Transfer Flow 40 gallon toolbox/tank that the previous owner installed last Nov. I wanted the space in the already small bed plus I want to install a Full Metal Jackrabbit cover so I pulled it out and sold it. I got my Titan with the skid plate (included in price from Alligator) on Monday and started installing it when I got home from work last night at 6:30. I had it installed and tools cleaned up by about 11:30 last night. The instructions are a little unclear so I probably read them about eight times. All in all the install went pretty good, I just had to tweak the brackets a little.

I pumped 12 gallons from my OEM tank before pulling it off and put it in the Titan after the install. I drove it this morning to fill it up and put in 42.4 gallons. It's nice to finally have the capacity bigger than a tank that belongs in a VW Bettle!

I suppose if I have one complaint it's the burping when topping it off. I have yet to not have foamy diesel burp out at the end.
Like the Titan better than the smaller Tranferflow in the 02' but still shorter range with the 09'......:(

It sounds to me like you might have a linked, smashed, or sagging vent line. I would get under there and check them all. If you don't find any of the above problems then try calling tech support on their website, it shouldn't be burping. Sounds like a vent line problem to me.

Mine burps when almost full, only when using high speed pumps though.

I also burp when almost full!

I also burp when almost full!

That's funny!

Aside from YOUR burping, it sounds like since there is so much volume in these tanks that the two vent lines that go into one can't get rid of the air fast enough. Especially when using the fast trucker nozzles.

Can you tell me how far the tank hangs below the frame rail?

I can measure mine when I get home later.

I will check those lines again. I just thought it might be the nature of these bigger tanks...though the Tranferflow is OK. Nice avatar by the way.....

Mine also burps a little when topping it off. I thnk it's just the nature of their design. Other than that, I love the extra range it allows me.

Can you tell me how far the tank hangs below the frame rail?

Mine has the skid plate which is only about 3/16" thick so from about the center of the rear door which is the lowest part of the frame, the tank is just 2 1/4" lower than the frame. From there is goes straight back about 54 inches but the last part of the bottom of the tank tapers upward towards the rear axle for more ground clearance. The back of the tank ends up about 6 inches in front of the axle.

Nice avatar by the way.....

Thanks, I'm into photography and I shoot sports and a lot of surf contests. This was a shot between heats at the US Open in Huntington Beach two years ago, gotta love it.....

Thanks. I want to get the tank. Just worried that it might get knocked around when traveling off road once in a while.

I was thinking the same thing because I go deep in some areas in Northern Cal to go hunting and also when i tow my trailer to the desert. It should be fine for me as I don't do any rock crawling or anything too crazy. Plus it has the skid plate to help out if it ever touched.

I'm pretty jazzed, I just arrived in Arizona, about 280 miles from my house and my gauge reads right between full and 3/4! It's great having a big tank!

Thanks for the pics. I was quoted $275 today for the install and I bought my tank from Summit for like $900. The shop was actually doing a install while i was there. They also said they would install the Nicktane for free.
