I recently installed a Mag-hytec transmission pan and have seen some lower temps with it, but i'm thinking of adding a transmission cooler aswell. My question is it possible to have the transmission run too cool? I only tow some toys around in the summer and see some 200-210 temps, but when I'm not towing will this combo make it run too cool? Can I ad a thermostat? Will it make the transmission last longer?

the trans line run thru the radiator as well as the cooler out in front...you dont want to add a t-stat to the system as for one the location for this to work correctly would be in a very bad spot and 2 if it fails open you will cook your trans....

normal unload ( empty truck driver and a couple passengers ) temps should be around 100* above out side air temp....so if its 70* out side; the trans temp should be right around 170* depending on traffic flow...

loaded up with stuff in bed or a trailer full of goodies the trans temps should be about 110* to 140* above out side air temp.....so if its 70* out side; the trans temp can easily be between 180* to 210* depending on traffic flow, hills, etc...

once the gauge starts to get above the 260*/270* mark you want to back out of the throttle and slow the truck down to a nice constant speed or even pull off some where to let the truck idle for around 15 to 20 minute to cool down the trans temps
