It could be seeping from the thermostat housing gasket at the head directly behind the top of the timing chain cover and running down the side of the cover on the front of the engine.

I had a g-van in a couple months ago that was leaking at that spot, right between the timing cover & the block.

It most definitly can leak from there. The whole timing cover has to come off including the ip. I just let the ip hang from the high pressure lines and didn't remove it from the engine. Use a gasket between the block and timing cover. The factory only used anarobic sealer.REWORK SUCKS!!!!

i had it before when swapping the water pump,it started leaking behind the T cover afterwards. When taking the pump hold down bolts out it can release the tension between block and T cover, coolant gets in between and breaks the seal .

Law of Murphy at work for ye:)

thanks everybody for the input but can someone be a little more specific as to where the thermo is im not too sure. ohh and if you need a leak stopped but the "bars leak" stopped it from leaking that stuff is bad ass just a little fyi. once again thanks

For t-stat location, you have to trace the upper radiator hose. Wherever the hose connect to a metal part, the t-stat is around there.

Now, if you ask me where is the upper radiator hose is? then you have to read the FAQ and find the picture thread. That is the hossy looking part that looks like a biiiig garden hose coming out of the radiator. Radiator is kind of in the front with a big fan behind it. The fan is hooked up to the water pump. So on and on.

There is a wiki on this somewhere in the cyberspace.
