: Finally...305/70/16 MT's on my HD...pics
ChevyHDGert 07-05-2005, 06:20 PM Just a few observations...
They do tend to "walk" all over the road.
They did help soften the ride compared to the stock 245's. Wife likes the new smoother ride so that is a plus.
Only rubbing is at full lock on the inner wheel well plastic that I still need to trim. I trimmed the plastic air dam only a little bit.

number9 07-05-2005, 07:23 PM Looks good. I think a 1" block in the rear would look great and give a little less rake - but that is just me. How far are the T-bars cranked? A guy I work with has 305's and his truck looks really good. He says it walks a little too. I had 305's on my 99 Z-71 (with 7" wheels) and it walked ALL OVER the road at anything above 65mph. I couldn't stand it and took them off after 2 weeks.
B-rad 07-05-2005, 09:22 PM That looks really nice.the stance is perfect
TEXMudder 07-05-2005, 11:55 PM Are they walking because the rims are too narrow or is there another reason?
_nar_ 07-06-2005, 02:45 AM Narrow rims. I had wide tires on stock rims and they walked a bit. The sidewall isn't straight on narrow rims, it has to bend in pretty far. Less stable that way. With 35s on 10 inch rims they are really stable. Also when they are brand new tires always seem to sway/walk more. After they heat up a few times they seem to do it a lot less.
Truck looks really good ChevyHDGert. You must be cranked a little more than me, because my front is at the same height with 315s. I'm getting a 2 inch block for the back too so it will be up a little and work better with the trailer.
dixie27 07-06-2005, 11:21 AM LOOKS PERFECT! just wait, i got a feeling you'll be seeing that set up alot more around here-best looking i've seen in a while- i run the exact set up- but with rancho 5000-i'm cheap- currently running bfg at's - way too small and narrow-think i might try 305's or 315's on stockers. do you rub on the upper A at full turn?
You got greens, or stock keys... I've got greens and 2inchs blocks--42front 43.5 rear-
ChevyHDGert 07-06-2005, 01:27 PM I've got the stock keys and mine is ext cab too. Not sure why yours is .5" taller but it definitely looks a lot taller than mine according to your pic. Good looking truck.
What kind of full bumper replacement you got?
ArrBee 07-06-2005, 02:05 PM Why would anyone DO this ?
It Looks GOOFY !
It WILL "WALK" - guaranteed to.
It WILL Hydroplane - you may not live to collect on the guarantee on THAT.
You probably need a self imposed speed limit of about 35 when there is just moisture on the road.
It would probably drive across ponds at low speed when they're mere frozen slush.
puzzled...
unless it is an attempt to "improve" on GM's design ?, in which case you flunked.
01Duramax6spd 07-06-2005, 02:06 PM Where did ya get the longer u-bolts for the rear? I cranked my bars up and need 2" blocks but haven't located any longer u-bolts.
NoWake200 07-06-2005, 03:56 PM I am kind of surprised you got a shop to mount them. The 265s that I put on are considered to big for the 6.5" stock wheels, the shop manager showed me the numbers in BFG's book. If I were you I would really consider getting bigger wheels(9"-10"). Just to be on the safe side.
It does look good....I will say that, but GM's small stock wheel gives zero room for upgrage.:(
dixie27 07-07-2005, 12:52 AM Superlift makes a whole line of block kits, includes all hardware, or you can just get the u-bolts- everythings on their website-
Gert-its a company in San Antonio -Boss Hawg metals- has thicker piping than most replacements- strong sh*t- makes a Ranchhand look weak-:ro)
Yea, i'm not sure where the .5 comes from- maybe it's the long bed-wish i got the 1.5 block - would like to come down a bit in the front but dont want a 2inch rake - oh well time for a RCD 6
do you tow with this truck ? any weight and you really run the risk with using those narrow wheels.........
