So someone told me that diesels are not required to have the cats to pass an inspection. Is this true? or was this person misinformed? Thanks

If it came from the factory with one. it usually does, and if it did not, it usually does not.

That is what the State Patrol here in Ohio told me.

I hear ya, he was saying it was specific to diesel's.......I am kinda skeptical because if they were not required to have them then why would the factory waste the money....Thanks

When I asked I was specific to diesels. He said if the truck came from the factory with a cat the inspection station would look for one, if it was not on the truck from the factory they did not check for them.

The reasoning is the factory put them only on the trucks they were mandated to do so on due to the laws at the time.
