OK, to begin with I aint that familiar with the Duramax, but I have a buddy that has one and is hauling a large 5th wheel with his. After several trips hauling his trailer in his stock Duramax, he wanted to be able to keep up with me. The guy is not really into working on vehicles and doesn't know a lot about them, but he does have money to spend on modifying his truck to give it the power he needs.

So after doing a little homework I got him setup with the Edge Juice w/ Attitude setup. This seemed simple enough for him to be able to operate, and gave him gauges, so I wasn't too worried about him going into a melt down.

Well all was good for a couple of weeks until this weekend. He had been driving around, unloaded, on level 4 of the Juice. Everything was fine and he parked his truck Saturday night. Sunday morning he calls me saying that he was able to start the truck, but as he backed down his driveway the truck quit. He tried everything he could, but could not get the truck started.

I came over Sunday afternoon and took a look at this situation. Everything seemed to be in order but the truck wasn't starting. It would crank and crank, but nothing... It seems as if it isn't getting any fuel. Not knowing these trucks, where should I start looking? Is there an issue with the Fuel Pumps on the Duramax (LLY) when being used with something like the Juice? If he is going to have to replace his fuel pump, is there a better option than what we will get from the factory?

Try unplugging the juice first..see if it starts....

Yup, should have mentioned that. Unplugged the Juice, and set everything back to factory, no luck. Disconnected the batteries for a couple of hours, and no luck...

Did you try giving the prime pump a couple pumps?

I was under the impression these had an automatic primer on them. Can anyone identify where the manual primer is at?

It is on top of the fuel filter.

has your friend had anything else done to the truck recently?? fuel filter been changed? routine maintenance??

and yes.. passenger side, fuel filter looks like a huge oil filter. Primer pump is on top. loosen little black screw, pump until all air is out and a little fuel comes out. pump will get very firm... tighten screw and you're done. make sure the filter is on properly as to not allow any air in.

No, nothing has been done to the truck, other than normal driving... I'll give manually priming it a shot. The only other modification to the truck, that might effect fueling, is he has a TransferFlow 75 Gallon tank. It was added over a month ago and there hadn't been any problems until this.

Did he put a lift pump on when he did the TransferFlow? Does he in fact have fuel?

priming is the first place to start. You might have to bleed too. If there is a lot of air in the line, you might bleed it, start it and have it die and reprime. may take a few times to get all the air out.
