: Are there different tow mirrors for different truck option packages?

I was looking to get a set of towing mirrors for my dads 2009 chevy 2500HD LT1 and one of the sellers said that there is a different mirror for WT and LTZ than what is needed for a LT1? He said it had something to do with the interior mirror switch. Is this true? I figured as long as you got OEM towing mirrors they would work for all option packages.

Thanks!

the plugs on the door are what needs to be wired correctly for them to work....If you dont have a heated rear window the mirror heat may not work...If you have the small mirrors with power fold; the power fold will not work no matter what, the tow mirrors dont do that...if you have the cheezey power extend tow mirrors the power extend will not work as the verticle tow mirrors dont do that either....if you have the small mirrors without the LED turn signal the tow mirrors may not work that option either....

the window/mirror control on the door has all the plug connector holes molded in place from the get go; its just how did GM wire your truck

if you have power mirrors; you will have power tow mirrors; just remember that the lower "spot" mirror is non-power no matter what...

if you have LED turn signals; you will have LED turn signals in the tow mirrors...

as for the heated part; If you have a rear defogger; you will have heated mirrors; if your current mirrors are heated and you have no rear defogger you will still have heated mirrors; if you DONT have heated mirrors and you DONT have a rear defogger you MAY still have heated mirrors with the tow mirrors fi GM put the wire in the door

WOW! That is complicated. I always thought that it was a reprogramming thing for the different mirrors. SO as long as the current mirrors have turnsignals and they have rear defrost, the heated towing mirrors will function properly?

Well, Just thought I would followup on what occourred. I ordered towing mirrors with turn signals, heat and power adjust. They replaced heated power adjusting mirrors without turnsignals. We put them on, the plugs snapped right into the new mirrors and the turn signals worked perfectly on the truck. Nothing needed rewired or reflashed and somehow it worked out.

Funny, I came to this section for this question exactly and it was right at the top.

I just bought a 2007.5 2500 LTZ but the fact that it does not have tow mirrors is the one thing that bugs me. I hate those little girly things from an SUV.

What do the OEM tow mirrors cost are they hard to install? I am completely new at this!

You can find the mirrors here: http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm
If the $325 is the price for a pair new. I paid too much off ebay for used ones.

I had one of my good friends (who owns a body shop) install mine. It took him approximately 15 minutes for each side while drinking a beer. I could probably tackle it after seing him do it but there was a lot of hidden screws I probably would've busted off!

and installation is easy... take the door trim off, unbolt, and install.
