I've read some posts about pre injection etc but am still trying to understand my first diesels sounds. When I get on it, passing etc the engine will often quiet right down and the truck goes into "rocket mode". Is this the turbo kicking in big boost? pre injection shutting down? all the above? I never keep things matted but just wondering about the process. Very cool sensation. Pulled some large hills this weekend and was very pleased how temps were low and always had plenty of power available.

The pre injection cuts out at 2500rpm and it will sound like a diesel at this point. The extra power you feel is probably the higher boost from the turbo and of course the extra fuel. If you think it has a lot of power now just think what it would be with an extra 60hp. Yes these trucks:rocking:
