Question, there are two wires that go from the positive terminal on the starter, which is a direct feed from the battery, to the fuse box in the cab. Can I install a power distribution block closer to the driver's side firewall and run the wires from there? I am thinking the fewer wires running down the side of the engine the better. I currently have my motor out and want to clean things up under the hood for a cleaner install.
Thanks for your input.

i only have 2 wires to the starter, then the battery cable. the wire that feeds the ignition, and the wire that gets the starter to engage. i know when my starter wire was off the headlights still worked. so the power for the lights comes in through the alternator wire thats hooked to the battery.

Mines not like 4320's. I haven't looked close but when I was having wiring issues with my starter(B+ ring terminal broken at the wire) I was losing everythung. I know this cause ws driving at night the first time it happened.

Absolutely you can put a terminal block on the firewall, the new body style trucks are set up with one on the passenger side. It's the connection point for the positive pigtail from the pass side battery, the alternator output, the feed wire to the glow plugs, the cab power, and whatever else takes constant battery.
HOWEVER... all those wires I just mentioned are protected by fusible links. If you don't take some sort of precaution like that, you may be asking for an underhood fire. I almost had one myself when the starter solenoid stuck on, but the battery terminal melted before any real damage was done.
