It is becoming a lot of headache to make the switch up to the lux model of the BOSE amp to get respectable sound. Do you think this would be a viable option...

Place a EQ unit like Pioneer's DEQ-7600 between the stock head-unit and the "premium" amp. Also hook up a powered sub like a Bazooka or the like behind my rear seats, branched off of the EQ. Does anyone think this might make a respectable sounding system?

I can not seem to compete with everyone else on e-bay for the few lux amps that are turning up, and I don't really want to change out my head-unit as well unless I was to drop the bomb for the nav unit, and that is big $$$. I can get the above items for about $500 instead.

Or am I just crazed...

:exactly: I see I'm competing with people from this site. I'm beginning to rethink this whole lux amp/nav head unit mod! My Garmin/Laptop combo shows way more detail than the factory nav units do... I just wanted a decent sounding stock looking unit. This Bose "premium" system is a joke!

call www.jpcustoms.com and ask Jason what your options are, the lux system does sound a little warmer but the bass still sucks, the premium system with subs sounds better IMO than the lux, the premium system also mates up to subs easier because the drivers are rolled of naturally not frequency tuned

Sorry CAP but I have to disagree on the LUX bass issue...on both my dad's Tahoe and my Silverado that I converted (to the nav) the bass is much much better IMO. Just about as good as a 6" sub could sound. There are definetly some songs that I want more bass on, but I do give them credit for sqeezing that much bass out of a tiny sub. Maybe its just tuning etc.. that only gives the impression of more bass...whatever crazy things Bose does...i am happy with my Lux system...one thing is for sure tho. It does sound better than the Premium system. I would not bother getting an EQ or doing anything to the Premium system. It is such a horrible amp that not a lot can be done to save it. You are better off getting a PAC AOEM-GM24 and just using an aftermarket amp IMHO...
