: GM Employee Pricing
Flatty 07-04-2005, 08:42 PM I have a CTD, and plan on selling this truck this week, and want a Duramax. Can anyone tell me how long the Employee Pricing is going to last? I know they say it ends today, but is there plans to extend this? If so, how long do they plan to extend it for?
also, are there any probloems with the new Duramax's? how abotu the older ones? I am not a HUGE fan of the IFS, but I can deal with that. As long as these trucks do not have the injector pump problems, tranny problems,... Ingeneral all those types.
Thanks
dima
Turbo6600 07-04-2005, 09:41 PM My dealer told me that they are 80% sure they will extend it .Not alot of problems to speak of injector issues on the 01-03 LB7 engine. But not many complaints on the LLY engine or allison. My Dad has one I have one and we are thinking about getting another one at work . Come on in the water is fine Dump that Sheep Farmer truck and step up in the real world. The IFS is Just as good as the others just look at it as years ahead of the others . Good Luck Turbo6600
Flatty 07-05-2005, 02:24 AM Well I am going to sell the dodge as soon as I fix the problems that is does have right now. Then I am goign out and getting the Duramax.

lawdogso 07-05-2005, 02:43 AM I thought the sale ended on the fifth. I got my new one two weeks ago and love it. I pulled a trailer to the coast this weekend and i still got up to 70 mph on the steep grades. This thing is awesome.
LyleP 07-05-2005, 11:15 AM According to CNN, GM is extending the Empolyee Discount promotion through August 1st.
BestNThDez 07-05-2005, 12:45 PM Is that still only for in stock '05's, or are they going to allow the 2006 vehicles also at the employee pricing?
mole177 07-05-2005, 12:52 PM This also involves diesel trucks i assume?
How much of an actual discount are we talking here?
Any estimate on how much a LS/LT 4x4 CC SRW would be?
dan_diesel 07-05-2005, 01:58 PM that'll be a real pisser if they extend it to the '06 models -- I would have just ordered one the way I wanted it :( , plus had a truck that "kept it's cool" versus the hotty '05 I have...
Other than the engine and tranny heat (which I'm hoping there'll be a fix for), and the rough ride (which we'll just live with), oh and the selling dealer not PDI'ing the rear diff. fluid level (not the truck's problem...), we relly like the truck and it was a very good value...
Drillchart 07-05-2005, 02:10 PM I doubt it will be the 06's, they were running this promotion to sell off the 05's so they would have room for the 06's and to recop. some of their losses.
trkarl 07-05-2005, 02:48 PM I have been wanting a diesel for over a year now but would not pay the price. I have a lawn service here in SW Fla and don't have to pull too heavy of a load as far as a trailer goes. I was looking for a basic strip down 2wd diesel and almost bought a Ford. The best price I could find was around 32k. The Chevy I bought on Sunday is a 4x4 2500 with the monster Duramax. Sticker price was 35k. I could not believe I got it for 26,700. What .... a 4x4 Duramax 2500 with the Allison tranny for under 27k .... SOLD is all I had to say. This is my first diesel and I have got to tell you I am glad this forum is here. So far I am thrilled with it.

cruznis300 07-05-2005, 05:05 PM I was told today that the program was going to go till the end of the year. The dealership stated that they had gained 12% market share because of this program and "rumor" has it Chrysler is starting the employee program on 7/7/05 as well as Ford coming soon (again.. this is what the dealership said today). They said there was no way that GM would stop this program when other manufacturers are going to follow them and lose that market share they gained. Also.. as a comment.. they also stated "how can we go from selling vehicles $10,000 less with the public knowing and then changing it and expecting them to pay normal price?"
Take it for what it is.. just repeating what I was told.
PS - Rebates can always change so the $3,000 rebate may still end today.
briano 07-05-2005, 05:38 PM DETROIT (Reuters) - Ford Motor Co. (NYSE:F - news), bowing to pressure from General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM - news), said on Tuesday that it was matching the big consumer incentives program that delivered blockbuster sales for GM last month.
Ford announced its new marketing campaign hours after GM said it was extending its "Employee Discount for Everyone" deals through Aug. 1.
The GM move was widely expected and set the stage for another intensification of Detroit's long-running price war.
Under the GM program, which was launched last month and due to expire July 5, the world's largest automaker is selling anybody a 2005 model car or truck at the same low price that GM employees pay.
Ford spokesman David Reuter said the "Ford Family Plan" -- which takes effect on Wednesday and will also run through Aug. 1 -- would be similar to GM's and shave thousands of dollars off the sticker prices of most 2005 models.
Flatty 07-05-2005, 05:40 PM Looks like I am goign to get the duramax after all... :cool2:

paulfinch 07-05-2005, 10:37 PM Hello,
I am picking up my new Duramax pickup tomorrow. How can I make sure that they have deducted the full $8,000.00, that's the $5,000.00 GM employee deduction and then the $3,000.00 rebate. The credit union lady said I can look at the window sticker and that should be the price I pay minus the $8K. Does that sound correct.
What got me questioning the price is the Credit Union lady said she priced it out at about $41,000.00. $8,000.00 off that is $33,000,00, 2nd grade math I know but the price that is on the invoice is about $4,000.00 higher. Has anyone run into shady dealerships and how do you fight them?

buckshot00 07-05-2005, 10:59 PM I'm not a dealer, but the way I understand it is that the GMS (employee discount) price is set by GM on the dealer invoice, and that the dealer has little or no control over the price. The dealer I bought from said the only real variable was how much they would give me for my trade in. Regardless, I have a SWEET new Dually for just a little more than I'd been pricing low mileage '03 and '04s.
mole177 07-06-2005, 01:04 AM Hello,

$400,000 higher!?!?
BestNThDez 07-06-2005, 02:01 AM PaulFinch,
I'm picking up my GMC Thursday, but I think the Chevy website is the same (I used GMC.com). Go to the Chevy website, "build your vehicle", then "locate your vehicle", then click on "Employee Pricing". That price is the Employee price with the $3000 rebate already included/deducted from the Employee price. That will be the price you pay, unless you choose the low finance interest rates instead, which will negate the $3000 rebate. You pay that price, plus tax, title and license. Other than tax, of the dozen or so different dealers I called, they all seemed to be anywhere from $100 to $200 total with their fees, not including tax. I wouldn't pay more than $200 in fees. Hope this helps.
Buzz38 07-06-2005, 02:12 AM My dealer showed me the invoice. If you use your own financing then the total discount should be closer to 11k from the research that I did. If you lease or use GMAC then you have to give up the 3k cash back offer which leaves you 8k off for the GMS pricing. I hope this helps and good luck.
BH in AZ 07-06-2005, 03:18 AM PaulFinch .... Tell the dealer you want to see the dealer invoice. The employee price is called the "GMS" price on the invoice. It is located on the right side and the price is to the right of the GMS notation.
You are not out of line to ask to see the invoice. One of the dealers here actually prints a copy in of one in the Sunday display ad. Hope you enjoy your new truck.
paulfinch 07-06-2005, 09:08 AM Mole177,
What can I say, I hit the comma instead of the period, again, what can I say. You had to know what I meant, seems everyone else did!

Corwin 07-06-2005, 11:48 AM It sucks at times to live in Canada, deals pretty much the same as last year nothing earth shattering like what you guys have in US.

What:eek: you northerners don't have GMS up there? Or your dealerships just aren't participating?
Corwin 07-06-2005, 11:29 PM Canada just not included on Employee purchase pricing
Corwin 07-07-2005, 02:27 AM Yippy heard today that as of Friday this week I can buy a Ford or a Dodge with employee pricing in Canada.
GM might now step up and do the same very soon in Canada

NascarJohn6Fan 07-07-2005, 03:56 PM i just purchased a new 2005 2500hd diesel and got the discount took delivery yesterday the 6th not many miles yet but love it so far!
TxChristopher 07-07-2005, 04:03 PM I wouldn't call it "earth shattering", GM reported that the average price paid was $400-$500 less per unit in June than May, which is a savings yes but not an "earth shattering" deal by any means.
MSNBC has the story and the figures are given by GM.

JJs DuMax 07-07-2005, 04:31 PM As long as the boyz and girlies are buying Duramax's and are happy then all is well. The DP membership is growing by leaps and bounds, especially the BAD Club, oh, that's "Bad Ass Dually" for you rookies! lol
TxC, ignorance is bliss! (hint hint) lol JJ
aztowbum 07-07-2005, 07:47 PM Well I Tried.. I Spent 2 Days on the Net and Phone. Yes the Employee price Program is still in effect BUT...Theyr`e real scarce at least in the Phoenix Market. I have a Loaded `03 GMC 1/2 ext cab with 25000 Miles. No real reason to get rid of it But... The end conclusion was a Stealer wanted $5000 Plus my Paid for trade to put me into a W/T Rubber Floor No P/windows no onstar etc. Folks if you Find what you want Do IT!!! But Stealers are being Flooded with Trades. They don`t want/need your Business.
rustynuts 07-07-2005, 09:10 PM i searched about 8 stealers and even put a deposit down with one that found another stealer with the truck i wanted in reno, nevada. truck in reno was already sold, computer wasn't updated yet and showed the truck still avail in their inventory. anyways, called LA, nevada, oregon stealers i found on the web. they all laughed when i told them what i was looking for. then told me how tough it was to find one and that all their stock was sold.
the stealer i gave the deposit to called me and said since they can't sell me a truck, the least they could do was tell me who still had inventory on the rig i wanted and they gave me a couple numbers. found a stealer about an hour away that had two in stock and i hauled a$$ up there and bought the silver birch short box one over the white long box.
if you find one even close to what you want and are even considering it, GET THE FAWKER. i got mine 6/28 and i can only imagine how few there are now.
also, my sticker was $49,000. got it for $37,500 + tx/lic/extra warr. verified the trucks worth via GM's website in the build your vehicle section. **** $11,500 OFF ****):h
Neun116 07-07-2005, 10:12 PM I loved the price sooo much I bought my wife one. I left the dealer at about 33,750 for a short bed crew cab LS Duramax. My wife now hates me but now I have two to play with.

RICKYY 07-08-2005, 12:41 AM For you guys looking for trucks, I've been keepin a close eye on the local inventory and as of yesterday found 2 ext cab D/A's and about 40 crew D/A's within 50 miles of my house. I live in Temecula, CA., which is about 60 miles north of San Diego. One dealer in Lake Elisinore, CA. had 17 crew D/A's, good selection of colors and trim packages.
I've decided to wait for an 06.

I bought a 2500 last month. Sticker was 48,xxx and I paid 37,xxx. 11k was taken off the sticker price. They showed me the paper that goes with the truck. It lists invoice, GMS price, etc.. they took that price and took another 3k off for the rebate and that is what I paid. ASK TO SEE the sheet of paper with all the info on it. NOT sure what that paper is called in GM speak but they have it. I walked out with a loaded 2500HD diesel crew cab long bed with a 7y/100k warranty after tax,tag title for 42k. You can also go to GMC.com or chevy.com and find a truck like the one you are going to buy and get the SALE price from the web. That is what I did to make sure I got all the discounts.
I walked in with the printed out spec sheet and price from the GM website of a truck a few thousand miles away. I told them if they had/found one like this one; I'll buy it right now.
I paid dealer cost +$75 for the warranty.

.
That is true. I bought my wife a NEW 05 malibu maxx LOADed for 20,500 OUT THE DOOR!!! with the GM deal today I could get the SAME car for 24k OUT the door. WHY? I was able to get 5000 in rebates a few months ago. I would rather pay a little more and walk in and walk out then fight like I did to pay 6% below invoice for a car. I had to fight for the price.....
paulfinch 07-08-2005, 06:06 PM GS340,
I also went to the website to check the truck out, I got my truck for a little less than you did due to some options probably but I did get the long wheelbase and 4 wheel drive. May never use it a lot but will be worth it when I do.
The truck drives really good but I have not figured how to reset the dash fuel counter and it shows the mileage really low, I think because the fuel that was in it plus the fillup at purchase.

Vetteran 07-09-2005, 09:20 PM New guy here. I just bought a 05 Duramax two days ago. Saved $10,000.00
