Looking at buying either the ne 305 hp v6 or the new 412hp v8 gt. Like the looks and cabin more than the camaro. Anyone looking also?

Guess GM will have to pull the z-28 out of the garage and put it on the road.

The old muscle wars are back but the cool twist is the mileage they are pulling from these engines. That v6 - 305 ponies and 31mpg - that's a new record for a v6. Even honda can't do better ---yet. I'm torn between the 6 and 8 . The 20year old who lost his permit for burnouts in his cobra wants the gt but the adult who is cheap and knows fuel is going up would be very happy with the loaded six pack. Nice choice to have. The camaro was my first choice but found the cab too dark and small feeling. Otherwise an outstanding ride. Optioned up they are mega $$ around here and I would guess a z28 (if they make it)would be over 55g....like the shelby gt500 is now.

I looked and drooled, too.......But the GC in my avatar shows where my "smart money" went.

If you want a "driver's car", the Genesis is the nuts. The only thing missing is the torque of a V8 (and the rumble).

After my POS GTO "quality" issues, and seeing the same 'maro in the body shop down the street for 4.5 mos awaiting parts, and the "minor" issues that have put a friends 'maro back to the dealer for 12 visits in a year, the Mustang beats the 'maro hands down, in my book.

1year and 10k miles later, the only issue on my Genesis has been the legend on the shift ball loosening, easily fixed with a phillips screwdriver:cool:. The GTO had already seen 20+ visits to the dealer by then. The only reason I keep bringing up the GTO is that the chassis are very similar, as is the electrical architecture, to the "NEW" camaro.

The body style is a little too rounded for me. But it still looks good and sounds great.

I dont like the rear of the Mustang reminds me of a Toyota. The Challenger and Camaro look alot better imo.

The new camaro and the GTO have nothing in common, completely different platform. The G8's, and CTS-V coupe are the only cars that share the same chassis. I don't see how the electrical is going to be any where near the same either as the camaro is running the generation IV LS series motors. I agree the GTO's had alot of problems but comparing a 5th gen camaro to a GTO is apples to oranges. I think the 11' stang is a nice looking car, its about time ford stopped bring a knife to a gun fight when it comes to the motor in the GT.

Personally why wouldnt you just buy the V-6 and slap a supercharger on it. Good gas milage, lighter and tons of power. Hell, i think Ford should bring back the SVO 4 banger :thumb:. Those cars back in the day would kick the snot out of a GT 5.0 with the right driver.
