I am looking at picking up a set of H2's and media blasting them myself and then painting and clear coating them. Would one of those cheap handheld media blasters with the hopper fed system work ok for wheels?
They are like $10-20 from harbor freight and tractor supply?

You might be better off just renting a soda blaster.

i have read some bad things about soda blasting vs media blasting. regarding paint adhesion and corrosion.

Soda blasting is fine for removing paint. It's not as aggressive as other media which I assume you want, you don't need a deep profile. "Soda" is baking soda and washes off easily.
The primer that you use next is what's going to make the paint adhere well.

i have talk to some people locally and they all think that sand blasting is not going to remove the chrome plating. I guess I am still going to blast it and see what happens, any large or deep chips i will hit gently with a grinder and sand the rest down.
Any recommendations?
