: Wiring colors for 7 way trailer connector?
love0126 04-25-2010, 06:15 PM I'm replacing the 7 way connector on my 2003 duramax equipped silverado. The existing wiring harness has partially melted due to a car that caught fire behind me in a parking garage. I have looked at what's left of the wiring harness on the back side by the connector and have determined the following colors to exist:
yellow
blue
black
red
brown
light green
dark green
Does anyone know how which is which for each color? The connector is completely melted and will need to be cut back a ways to install a new one.

The green (terminal) on the plug itself is tail/marker/clearance lights. The brown (terminal) is right turn

if youre putting an aftermarket plug on this is right. if factory plug the colors listed are right. trailerpro's color chart is what you need to follow for aftermarket...left side =factory, right side= aftermarket

You may be correct, but everyone should know the color code almost all major trailer manufacturers use to wire the round 7 flat pin connector. Auto mfgrs. tend to use brown for tail and green for rt turn. Also don't forget yellow in the center for back up light on the trailer side:) I have been wiring up trailer plugs and fixing people's screw ups for as long as I could walk....lol

floriduramax1 04-25-2010, 09:56 PM Look pal, check out the times the posts came in. I was looking for a diagram to actually give him something to look at and then posted right on top of the others. What's your deal! There was nothing offensive in my post towards you. Go ahead you can have the last word in this because I think we see where this is going!
heymccall 04-25-2010, 10:57 PM Why not splice one of these in????
