I took off the grill to do bug-duty after a recent trip. Looking down behind the bumper, I noticed a big plastic flap, with two large tabs forward, dangling down, looking like it was supposed to do something. I then realized that it's probably supposed to be some kind of air deflector.
I had never been in there before, and it's an '05 with about 4000 mi. That was the way it came from the factory.
After playing with it a bit, it seemed like it was supposed to be wedged up in the bumper to deflect air from the bumper air-inlets to the stack. It just seemed to fit there correctly. When in the "down", unwedged position, it would make for a nice short-circuit of any ram air from the grill and bumper air-slots.
I have attached two pix, before and after. Now to see if it makes any difference, especially for the overworked AC condensor. Just thought I'd share with you hot-running fellas.
