A buddy of mine has a F250 with a 6.9 in it and he's wanting to turbo it anyone got any experience with this? How's the power?

bump comeon someones gotta have a 6.9

He will never be in your league, even when you were all stock.
A stock 6.9 puts out about 135 RWHP , flywheel HP is about 175.
Turbo with the fuel turned up might add 50 RWHP.
6.9's are high compression since they were designed to be non-turbo,
can't run much more than 12 pounds of boost with stock pistons.

What is stock LLY RWHP, about 245-250?

I had a 6.9 and added a Hypermax turbo , it did make a difference, was happy with the results. Got the whole system used for $400,
tell him to look around for a good used system, lot less $$.
I put in new head gaskets , ARP studs and a pyrometer when I did mine.

Buying new, $1500-$2,000 and ending up with 175 RWHP doesn't add up to me.

Bottom line, it really helps out, noticable difference , worth doing if he can find one cheap,but he will never run with the big dogs.
