Should I spend the extra money and buy the OEM one from the stealer or just buy the NAPA water pump?

Given that the water pump is gear driven and it a bit harder to remove/replace - I would go with the oem pump.

Check out gm parts direct for a great price - not sure how long you can wait for part to arrive, etc.

OEM for this....I've heard of very unhappy people who went to a regular parts store only to have to replace the water pump again in a few months....Napa does sell quality parts....much better than autozone or Kragen/O'Reilly's...but why take the chance...

also be advised that some Auto parts stores sell AC Delco parts.. wich are not always OEM General Motors..

i work in the parts biz. up in Cananda.. were an Delco dealer.. but not all of the jobber Delco stuff is true OEM GM...

if the dealship is 200 bux..and you find a delco at a partszone or w hatever u guys have down there.. for 150.. solid chance its the offshore brand..

for my prof. opinion.. on an item like this..id go OEM dealership GM part

Josh, the vendor on our site (yourgmpartsguy) quoted me $187.00 for the pump+ gaskets and $17.00 for shipping.

My local stealer wanted $240.00 for the pump and $40.00 for the gaskets.

NAPA with our company discount was $127.00 just for the pump w/o the housing or gaskets.

$60.00 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

Your partsguy price ended up being less than quoted $177.00 incl shipping and gaskets

Wow. Is that all you guys are getting charged from the dealer. I just had to do mine about 10000 km's ago the dealer wanted 680.00 for the pump and over 1000 to put it in. I went with a pump from napa, cost me 180.00 everything is still fine.

I was so cheap I didn't even go with NAPA! I think I got mine from checker and after 10000 miles it is still working! I guess I just got lucky and besides if it goes out again I can probabley do it again in two hours, no big deal.

I'm not positive, but I think the way the pumps come from the dealer now is just an A/C Delco pump, whereas they used to be an Isuzu pump AND water pump cover together. That would explain the large price difference.

The one i got was just the pump, no cover and that was 300 bucks.

That is correct, GM no longer sell the izuzu pump+case, now its a AC delco pump.

Mine only lasted 50000 miles . I got the dealer to replace it for $100.00 total . I had to raise some hell B4 they did it ,but I figure they know there is a problem with the water pumps anyway.

I've had good success with RockAuto Parts
http://www.rockauto.com/

They list OEM AC Delco, about 160.00 online.

Good source for general Parts info. I've used them several times and
they are competitive...you can use the part numbers to cross search
on other sites like Amazon for pricing....
