 Ok Im going to vent a little, Im the type that likes to keep my truck spotless, inside and out, but everytime I wash it, at least once a week if not more, the dang camper mirrors hold so much water, I have to go drive a few miles, get out look at the water marks all over the doorsCensored , its carbon paint so you really notice them, and try to figure out the best way to clean them up without scratchin, or swirlin the paint, because if you have ever owned a dark color, well you know what im talking about, its just one of those things that gets on my nerves. Anyone else know what Im talkin about?

i have the extended towing mirrors (oe) and it holds a little water but not that much. i'm a fanatic too so i use a blower from my craftman vacuum to blow out the front grill, around the door handles, windows and wheels, then wipe it. That does the trick and much better than driving it dry - though fun to drive ;)

Ya, I just drive a little ways and wipe the water marks down with some Quick Detailer (the spray stuff you use in between washes).

I think everyone thinks Im nut when they see me blowing on my mirrors, lol, I guess a leaf blower would be the trick! Maybe a small one I could leave under my seat..):h

I always shake mine out to get most of it out but then i hit the truck with the leaf blower to get rid of all the excess water from all the hiding spots.

Mind if I vent a little? I noticed a while back when washing the truck I had rust stains streaking below where the mirrors mount to the door. It shows up good on Pewter paint. Looks like I will have to remove the mirrors and replace the rusted fasteners or paint them with primer. I haven't had time to remove them to see what's behind there!

Yep just dealt with that last night (my weekly detailing). I always extend the mirrors wipe them dry. I have also found that if I lift the mirror a little while blowing on them (you guys arent the only nut jobs out there) I can get all the water out of that spot where it leaks from.
Now my vent: After detailing last night I awoke to find the neighbors damn sprinkler tinkling on my truck!!! The nerve of him...

I am also a fanatic when it comes to cleaning my truck. I use a backpack leafblower to dry my whole truck after i wash it. i blow out the mirrors because of the above reason stated in this thread and another spot is inside the factory chrome wheels. The water pools behind the face of the wheel and when you drive off, it sprays all over the side of the truck and wheels. I have been using a leafblower since day 1 with my truck and have had no problems and it saves a lot of head aches. If i do get water spots going down the side, i use 3M Gloss enhancer to wipe it down. I am a detailer so for all you guys that have dark color trucks, dont have a leafblower and continue to have this problem, i suggest that you get some spray detailer of your choice and keep it in your truck with some clean 100% terry cloth towels and wipe the truck off after you drive a few miles.

Every vehicle I own is black so I feel all of your pain x 3. I try to blow off the water the best I can the same way the rest of you do. I also go back into the garage an hour or two later and hit the drip marks down the doors with a quick detailer seems to work for me. I also use the MR clean detailer thing (you know what I'm talking about) that helps the hard water dripping from the mirrors and leaving a skid mark.

One thing that I have done in the past, but not yet to my 05 is to drill 2 small holes, like 1/4 inch or so, in the bottom of the plastic of the mirror and this acts like a drain hole. But I have not looked at my new truck to do that yet, but it should work.

I used to get water in my mirrors also, but now I wash and dry my mirrors first with my bug sponge with just clean water and then cover the mirrors with the thin plastic bags you get from the store and hold them on with rubber bands.
No more water dripping from the mirrors after you drive the truck.
I have the camper extending mirrors also.
