My current truck has nice wheels and 265 75/R16 Coopers on it... I absolutely do not like the dinky ones that normally come with the truck... My current wheels are a little pitted etc but I have heard about some cleaner compound you can spread on there and then you use a drill with a buffer tip on it to clean them up and then get new center cans. I would be happy with that but I am wondering what to do with the new wheels and tires. Should I upgrade those and not drive the truck off the lot with the stupid little ones and the dumb wheels it comes with. I have a spare set of 265 85/R16s with about half tread on them I was planning to sell them with the 01 silverado I have to sell. With either the stock wheels or the wheels that are on it. What size wheels are stock on a new GMC LT? Can you trade up before you drive off the lot? I really dont need anything expensive but want 265s if I can have them and I have to have e-range tires. I pull pretty heavy.

What can I ask for or expect of my dealer as far as getting something other than the stock tires and wheels?

If they are the Aluminum rims you may be able to sell them here for a pretty decent price. If they are the stock steelies, you may want to keep them for warranty purposes. I doubt the dealer would give you much if anything for these.
Also another option would be to keep the stock steel wheels and crap tires for doing burnouts.......its good for the sole you know.:)

I've bought new trucks before & had the dealer take the truck to a local tire shop & trade the factory tires for larger aftermarket tires before I took delivery of the new truck. Just call some tire shops first to see what they'll give you for trade-in on your new factory tires.

I am thinking to ask the dealer who has a Hummer dealership on the same lot for a trade to the H2 wheels and tires coming off one of those...
The truck is a LT so I think I will have the aluminum wheels.
