So I have my 86 CUCV and it can sit for literally an hour after running and the Glows WON'T come on but the truck starts literally a half a spin. My 91 Burb with New IP, New Nozzles and new glows will not start without the glows even 10 mins after I shut it off. Why are two 6.2s so different ? I mean I know the obvious that the CUCV has a 24v starter and turns over faster but the Glows don't even come on in that truck if it's been running. The Burb will come on even if I start it 2 seconds after shutdown and it cranks a bit. It doesn't start great cold. Usually have to give it fuel when cranking and it hesistates trying to start then all of a sudden roars to life.

clean the disk in the starter solonoid! i cleaned mine and the contact points in there and it spins over like the engine was running! i can start it at the beginning of the day without the glowplugs now it cranks so fast! so try that first then go from there.

doesn't sound like a glow plug prob to me. fuel leaking back to the tank, timing or compression to me.

Motor is tight. I doubt compression. Could be drainback. Thing that stumps me is the UCV glows don't even go on if the truck is warm. The Burb won't start without them even warm. Actually the Burb starts like most 6.2s I've owned. The CUCV is what I have never seen.

My blazer starts like your CUCV. No glowplugs needed once it's been running unless it sits for 6-8 hours then the factory glowplug system will come on so i'll let it go and then start it, but it'll probably start without the glows and just a little bit of extended cranking. Never tried it though.
It'll turn 1/2 a turn and it'll be running after i've had it running just like your CUCV and my blazer's a civilian 12V system not the 24 volt. I don't think the 24 volt gives the starter any more power, it just causes it to draw less amperage.
I"ll bet your Raptor fuel pump and the fact that the burb has the mech pump has something to do with it. I've got a permanent piece of clear line right before the LP to check for drain back. The hose has been empty a few times but that was due to what seemed to be a loose hoseclamp. The blazer started like shit when i had my drainback issues in the winter due to a leaky fuel filter housing.

Try bumpin' the timing up a little, like 1/8", before you start it. See what, if any diff.

Yeah an Elec LP upgrade maybe good. Gotta get rid of those 9g's too.

Wonder how many of those 9Gs are toasted or close to it?
I know you said you had a set of 60Gs in your garage but if you don't want to put the new ones in that and save them for the duallie let me know. I've got a set of used but good 60Gs here you can have. They'll just get lost here anyways. ):h
