: Thermostat and Temp Sender Replacement?

So, working on the diesel has my self confidence about as low as it can go. Had the IP worked on a couple of weeks ago, SES light came on with a P0126 - coolant temp too low. Researched and decided to replace both the thermostat and sending unit.

Since I am so unsure of myself right now, I've attached a couple of photos of where I think the thermostat should be. Can someone please confirm? (where the upper radiator hose attatches to the left of the A/C compressor).
Could someone please let me know where the sending unit is as well - is it the brass fitting on the top of the assembly?

Thanks.

Yes that is where the thermostats are (i believe yours has two of them) the sending unit for the guage is on the front side of the Drivers head. The one on the crossover is for the computer i believe.

Thanks for the quick response. Now I'm nervous, the stealership said I only have one, that's why I was concerned, never seen a housing that big for one.

Will replace the sender and drive, hopefully that will do it for now.

Thanks again.

you should have two, i believe 97 and up went to two tstats along with the HO water pump. they might've been looking at the wrong year

Thanks for the help but unfortunately, they had the correct year and this was at the dealership. I've pretty much had it with Chevy.

The temperature sensor did not work either, the electrical fitting was wrong. Went to Advance and Autozone, they both list the same one and it doesn't work. The connector they have has side by side pin connectors. My truck has a pin connector and a spade connector in the middle.

Don't have the time to waste in this endeavor any more. 4+ hours getting parts and trying to install incorrect parts only to end up back where I started with nothing accomplished.

As much as I have enjoyed driving it, my truck will be on Craigslist and in the classifieds here as soon as I clean it up.

Thanks again for your help.
