Went to pick up my daughters last night from a party and had my 05 GMC CC 4X4 idling at the curb. Was taking longer than I thought so I decides to turn off the motor. Just as I turned it off, well here they come out the door. I immediately went to start it again and it cranked and started then died. Then the wierd stuff started to happen! I had 3/4 of tank but, the fuel gauge read empty with the fuel light on! DIC numbers were blank! Called Onstar to have them run a diagnostic, they said everything seemed normal and were sending me out some diesel figuring I ran outta fuel. Turned everything off and let her sit for about 15 mins. Turned the key back on and everything is back to normal! Fuel 3/4, DIC working fine, cranked motor and she started and ran as smooth as she always does. Took her right home and parked it. My conern is wth the long holiday weekend, I can't get to the dealer till Tues. or Wed. What do you guy's think? Should I not drive till the dealer looks at her? Or was it something that just reset it self. :help2:

tboyd,

I have found if I put key in and crank right away, I can get various faults and messages.

IMO, the computers "Shake Hand" each time they are power up. If they aren't allowed to complete the Hand Shake, a fault Can result.

I turn the key on and wait until the Odometer displays the milage, then crank. Don't have any problems this way.

Hope this helps.

turn key to "on", wait about 2 seconds then crank it, this is what they told us at GM training center when EFI first came out. Even though you have a Dmax, give the ECM a few moments to regain it's composure. Just my .02
