So my extended warranty was up back in June at 5 years. I am currently at 85K miles and looking for another warranty to be able to pick up on a possible head gasket problem i'm having. Anyone have a NON-GM aftermarket warranty that has been good to them? I talked to the dealer and GMPP will not cover anything after 75K, Transcon will only do a 24month/24k warranty and its $4200 and another one will do a 36month/36000 for $5300.00. Any help is appreciated.

If you thought you were having a head gasket problem why didn't you take the truck in before the warranty expired?

When I purchased my truck last year, I bought an aftermarker warranty....Your better off just paying for the repairs, since most of those companies spend more time trying not to pay for the repairs. There is also an exclusion in most plans of the maiximum they will pay for any repair....usually hidden on one of the back pages with a limit of $2500...plus you will have a $500 deductible.

I found one that will cover bumper to bumper for another 100k but not the turbo with no deductable for 2400. That cap is you talked about has me worried I will have to look into the fine print before I pull the trigger.

Yes most do come with a limit on what they would pay for.. I purchased AutoLife RX and it was 2500... I got it when I purchased my truck. 5yr/100k.. This was the only option given to me when I purchased my vehicle. The deductible is 100. I am currently shopping to see if I can find a better warranty.

I did some more research and found that I paid too much for my extended warranty..

I work at a Ford dealer, i purchased an ESP from my dealer (the same as a GMPP). They offer different plans depending on year and mileage. I bought one for my 06 with 83,000 miles on it, i got an extra 4/48 coverage. The cost was about $2,300 but you can finance it with 10% down and 17 payments of the remainder at 0% interest. I already used it twice replacing the front hub bearings, tie rods, pitman, idler arm, power steering lines, and a window motor, so it was definately worth the money.

keep your money.

non-factory ext warranties are only good for wiping your ass...when its claim time, the shop has to deal with some jerk whose job is to find a way to avoid payment

I had an aftermarket on my wifes old car and it was a battle everytime. The dealer hated dealing with them and always wanted me to front the money for the repair.

It's either GM extended or none for me.

You can do a google and find a ton. Just be careful. A lot of them are crooks. You have to do your homework.

I wouldn't waste your money on any that will extend it from where you're mileage is. I deal with them everyday and most are rediculous: $ limitations per repair type, shipping used/aftermarket parts, not paying full labor rate. There is also no such thing as a bumper to bumper aftermarket warranty. If you are really considering one let me know the company name and plan coverage and be happy to give my thoughts on it. Hope this helps.

Sorry, no experience with them. There's alot of new companies that have started up that I still haven't seen. Be sure to look at complete list of covered or non-covered items. Also see what labor rate they pay, and if they go with used or aftermarket parts, and see if they have a maximum amount of $ towards specific repairs. If your truck is lifted, even just having larger tires that can mean very minimal coverage for you. Are you still having coolant problems?

just used my Mastertech Ultra Wrap for the first time from when I bought the truck 3 yrs ago for a power steering pump replacement, had the Chevy dealer do it along with the heated washer recall--paid the $100 ded and drove out...they used brand new GM pump-have 2 more years left to go before it expires...you woulda thought a p/s pump would be under the "powertrain" warranty but it wasn't..

This is an aftermarket "non-GM" warranty? Sounds like it went pretty smoothly!
