Okay first off I have the EGR diconn....Thats never been an issue the whole time its been disconn...its never thrown a EGR code

okay so the codes I have are 22, 23, and 32. I believe 22 is a TPS? Does this mean my tps is bad? I moved it a round a bit and no change of any sort. I am just looking for a few suggestions on what i need to do.

Thanks in advance

Brian

DTC 22: TPS signal voltage is less than 0.06 for 4 seconds.

DTC 23: TPS not calibrated, Voltage not between .25 and 1.35 volts at PCM terminal "A15", for a time in excess of 30 seconds, engine speed between 550 & 650 rpm.

DTC 32: EGR system error. PCM compares its EGR duty cycle signal with the MAP signal and makes corrections in the duty cycle. If EGR control pressure (line vacuum) varies from what the PCM has determined the pressure should be and determines this varience for longer than 10 seconds, a code DTC32 will set.

So I am now having a issue with the trans shifting....It appears that the trans will not shift into OD and it wont down shift to accelerate when you step on it. Any thoughts or suggestions? Do I need a new TPS?

sounds like a bad tps to me. search my "tps exploded view" thread.

I did try moving the tps sensor but the engine light never went out. So I don't know...I ordered a TPS we shall see if it does it tomorrow AM

I would go talk to them in the 6.5 section that use them fancy computers to make them engines run.

the light wont go out on its own even if the problems fixed i think. i thought you had to unhook the battery cables for 10 seconds to reset the computer. thats what idid on my moms 89 olds delta 88 car when the mass air sensor got carbon on it, i cleaned it and pulled the batt cables off for 10 seconds put em back on and the light went out. and so far hasnt come back on yet.

i know this is a little late, but if the computer is throwing codes why dont you break out your ball glove and catch a few :p:

I'd rather be the one throwing the codes than catching them

HEEEEYYYYY OOOHHHHHHHHHHHH! You Guys are hilarious!

LOL anyway new TPS fixed my problem she now works perfectly. Such an amazing feeling to fix it the first time and to not have work through a process of elimination.

Thanks for all your input!

What method did you use to adjust it? Just curious.

The TPS signal is one of the most important inputs used by the PCM for transmission control and for most of the PCM control outputs. When DTC 22 is set, TCC will not apply, pressure control solenoid current will be low causing high line pressure and harsh shifts.

Adjustment is easiest with a scan tool. Display should read .5 - 1.25 volts, throttle closed, ign on, engine at idle. There is a detailed adjustment procedure in the service manual but...........if voltage is close to the above-mentioned reading and close to 4.5V at full throttle when taking scan tool readings, it's close enough.

Most often, if you just position it very near where the old one was located, using the mounting bolt marks for a guide, it will work fine.

Exactly fred I got it as close to the same orientation as the marks on the orig and its working great. What kind of scan tool would read this?

It requires an intuitive tool, one that can input as well as read data. I have an OTC Monitor Elite and and older model OTC Monitor 2000. I also have an interface device called an "Autotap AT1" that works on OBDII systems.

The best available for GM vehicles is the TECH 2 type but they cost more than my budget will allow and they have to be upgraded at a GM dealership with access to a CAMS computer to get fresh downloads from the factory. Great tools but way beyond what I want and need.

The Monitor Elite was around $700 with several cartridges, it will do engines, transmissions and body modules. It allows me to change inputs, timing, rpm, open and close solenoids, etc. I have the software to hook it up to my laptop to allow graphing and recording of data. I road test vehicles, hit the record button and it saves data until I return to the shop. Fun but not really necessary.

A good tool will give realtime data, most important when making adjustments. As you move the TPS, you see the values change on the tool. That's the part you need. Do some online research, a comparable tool is probably available for a couple hundred dollars. It's a money maker if used correctly. They often show up on online auction too.
