Does anyone have a run down of the differences between the 2500 and 3500.

Things i know for sure
Engine/tranny the same, Rear has extra leafs on 3500....

Don't know
is front suspension same or different....
are brakes different??

any other differences??

Help Please - I need to decide!!

I posted them over at Jims for ya Clarke. Front axles and springs have always been the same and the axles have always been the same with different springs. If you review the specs the same holds true. Manu's prefer a duplication of parts to keep the costs down.

Springs only, unless you get a dually.

Brakes.......

2500
Rotor diameter x thickness (in / mm): front: 13.97 x 1.57 / 355 x 40
rear: 14.17 x 1.34 / 360 x 34

Total swept area (sq in / sq cm): front: 277.7 / 1791
rear: 277.5 / 1790

3500
Brakes
Type: power-assisted, Hydroboost brake-apply system, four-wheel disc, four-wheel ABS
Rotor diameter x thickness (in / mm): front: 13.97 x 1.57 / 355 x 40
rear: 13.97 x 1.57 / 355 x 40

Total swept area (sq in / sq cm): front: 278 / 1793
rear: 278 / 1793

Not sure why they would be different or more important, maybe a brake guy can tell us how much of a difference they would make??

CCSB Towing differences....just to note:

2500 4WD w/ 6.6L (3.73 axle): 13000 4WD w/ 6.6L (3.73 axle): 16700

3500 4WD w/ 6.6L (3.73 axle): 13000 4WD w/ 6.6L (3.73 axle): 17000

Doesn't seem like much of a difference, but these were just copied from the above link.

I'm not sure we can totally rely on all the figures presented at the autoguide site above.
For example, it indicates that a 3500HD, extended cab, long box, 2wd, w/single rear wheels and the 6.6L has a payload of 4,209 lbs while the same vehicle w/4wd has a payload of 4,223 lbs. Since the 4x4 weighs more it should have less payload available but it shows 14lbs more.
In addition, it indicates that a 2500HD (same type truck as above) can trailer 17,400 lbs, while the 3500 (as above) can tow 17,300 lbs or 100 lbs less. Then it goes on to indicate that a 2500, 4wd can tow 16,500 lbs and a 3500, 4wd 16,900 lbs or 400 lbs more. A complete reversal from the 2wd. It just doesn't compute. I think there is a proof reading problem with the figures and hope it gets corrected soon before folks start making decisions based on erroneous data.

dually's are going to have an even bigger lug pattern than the SRW trucks. IIRC something like 8 x 210mm for the duallys, and 8x180mm for the SRW trucks.
