: I think the dealers are on to me......
rolloffhill 07-01-2005, 06:35 PM So I get my truck back from getting all eight injectors replaced. The Service manager asked me If I had a power adder. I had to leave the thermocoulple in, so I put in some dummy gauges instead of the Banks, which only work with Banks 6 gun.
Well I get my truck back today and find a blob of something on the edge of my harness, so they will be able to tell if I added a harness box or not.
Basically I am trying to figure out what exactly it is so I can get some and replace it if I ever need to. I plan on putting my harness box back on.
It is firm but rubbery, and it is grayish in color.
Turbotug 07-01-2005, 06:44 PM Probably some kind of silicone gasket maker. The stuff we use is called Hondabond, sold at Honda dealers, looks just like that!
Duratys 07-01-2005, 06:46 PM Looks like valve cover sealant:confused: Pull it off and wash that bad boy down:eek: Shes lookin a little dirty):h
Max Payne 07-01-2005, 06:51 PM It looks like pigeon sh!t. I would tell them you don't appreciate it, and ask them to remove it. Tell them most dealers that want to be an ass about mods put a big orange zip-tie around it, they need to get with the times...
rolloffhill 07-01-2005, 06:57 PM Looks like valve cover sealant:confused: Pull it off and wash that bad boy down:eek: Shes lookin a little dirty):h
That would be a never ending process, I drive down dirt roads and through dusty fields to get to my jobs daily...............-:t
rolloffhill 07-01-2005, 06:58 PM It looks like pigeon sh!t. I would tell them you don't appreciate it, and ask them to remove it. Tell them most dealers that want to be an ass about mods put a big orange zip-tie around it, they need to get with the times...
Well at least with the pigeon sh!t I can replace it..............
dozerboy 07-01-2005, 07:12 PM I wouldn't worry about it just clean it off good and play dumb if they ask. And after how they treated you, I wouldn't go back to the same Stealer.
Duratys 07-01-2005, 07:17 PM Play ignorant again....You took it off because it was not there before..... You thought the tech went crazy with the sealant...
I never took my probe out either... I just shoved the leads behind the AC condenser and when they asked me about it i just told them that i was planning on getting some guages someday. What is it to them anyway? How many injectors have been replaced on trucks that havent had ANY mods done to them? I would reinstall your gun and carry on!
Dmax Tim 07-01-2005, 08:15 PM I'd just put an ECM in it.
Give a good reason to pick up an extreme.
duramaxdiesel 07-02-2005, 09:17 AM I don't think that the dealer is allowed to do that are they?
70 gsconvt 07-02-2005, 09:54 AM I'd take it back to the dealer and ask them what that is on your truck. And when they can't give you a good answer, tell them you want it removed, NOW!! It's your truck, not a rental.
duramaxdiesel 07-02-2005, 10:21 AM :exactly:
McRat 07-02-2005, 10:26 AM Thank goodness they weren't worried about fuel contamination and put a tack weld on the gas cap door.
Got Juice? 07-02-2005, 10:41 AM Clean the entire engine.... then tell them you entered into a show and shine!
Problem solved!
rolloffhill 07-02-2005, 10:42 AM :funnypost ...Mcrat
:anitoof:
I think I will take the :lying: approach and tell them I thought it was junk left over from the service.....I can play stupid...:duh:
C.A.P 07-02-2005, 10:48 AM file a complaint with the mgr. and tell them that It is ilegal to do any thing to your truck with out notifing you. tell them to remove that sh@t immedatly, and report them to GM. for poor service. and do not return there are plenty of STEALERSHIPS out there look for one that is diesel frendly
rolloffhill 07-02-2005, 12:46 PM Is this something they can attach to my vin report? I was wondering if I went to another dealer if they are going to know about the blob too. Or is it something just for that dealer.
Maxter 07-02-2005, 01:25 PM Maybe they wanted to help it stay in place and cause any failure by vibration. They may be good people. -:t :drop_mout
C.A.P 07-02-2005, 02:19 PM again, walk int the STEALER and demand to know who put silicone or whatever that sh@t is on your $45,000.00 vehical, and ask if they thought you had a harness problem why wernt you notified, demand a appology, and get mgrs. name and file a complaint. also tell them if you did have a harnass problem, you hope they would replace it not put a band aid on it.
McRat 07-02-2005, 02:26 PM Seriously, just take it off. It being gone is not proof of a tuner.
_nar_ 07-02-2005, 06:26 PM Sneaky varmints aren't they...
BigOL3 07-02-2005, 07:10 PM Seriously, just take it off. It being gone is not proof of a tuner.
:exactly: :exactly: Most importantly--it is YOUR truck. You don't need to ask permission to remove $hit off your harness.
crewcab03 07-02-2005, 09:35 PM I would take it off let it ride and the next time the truck has to go in clean the engine compartment up real good with degreasers and spray the crap out of it with wd 40 or armor all to make it all shinney if they then ask say guess it came off when washing the motor.
akdiesel 07-02-2005, 10:28 PM If you do take it in again and they ask what happened to the tabs that were on your connectors. Ask them why they put that stuff on there.
By them putting this stuff on there since it is not an emission item they are trying to basicly put a speed trap out there like the cops used to do.
hdmax 07-03-2005, 07:44 AM You don't need an excuse! If the truck ever needs to go it, and they ask about the junk. Just tell them it is none of their busness, because, after all it is your truck.
GMC-2002-Dmax 07-03-2005, 08:38 AM Scrape it off and find a more friendly dealer...........
I take nothing off my truck and never did, except for a box or programmer.........
My dealer asked once and then never ever been questioned about a thing after that..............my dealer does not seem to care..........they even went as far as to warranty my BLOCK HEATER with the $100 deductible waived............:D
They want a happy customer and they want referrals.
Call the SERVICE MANAGER back and say the TECH goober-ed up my engine and YOU are not happy. Slam them on the survey, tell GM you brought it in for service and the TECH did sloppy work...........
Never go back................and as far as having gauges, I have three, Boost, EGT and Aux Tranny temp. The first time I was asked my answer was............GM felt the need to put a tachometer, oil pressure, water temp, volt meter and tranny temp in gauge from the factory.............I tow a large trailer in hilly areas........I want to monitor my EGT's and Boost so that I can keep an eye on things............I didn't know monitoring two more engine parameters was in any way going to effect warranty coverage...........I don't think GM or you could make a case based on a monitoring device.
As far as my exhaust, well I backed into a low stump, bent my tailpipe.....the cost was so much that an aftermarket exhaust was much cheaper...........so I replaced it.
The AFE intake..........didn't know that swapping to a more effecient air filter was a problem either............
After that little conversation I never got a second question asked........
It sounds to me like you Service Manager is a F'ing PUTZ..............:exactly:

Diesel Dragon 07-03-2005, 05:52 PM Take it off, put your box back on and tell them not to modify your truck ever again.
It's your truck and unless they want to make a payment or two for you, they can keep there pigeon crap to them selves
machoosh 07-03-2005, 06:56 PM It looks like a wrench twister took it upon himself to play a mind game with you, I wouldn't worry about it... also go give them hell for playing with your wiring and ask if they tampered with anything else.
Honestly.
WilliamBos 07-03-2005, 07:09 PM It didn't leave the factory with that crap on it, so it shouldn't have that on it now!!
............... Of course any of the stuff we put on is ok, because we are paying for it, but its not ok for them to do it!!
Take care,
Will
Max Payne 07-04-2005, 01:15 PM Ask the tech if he would appreciate you gluing all of his toolbox drawers shut...
Got Juice? 07-04-2005, 01:25 PM Ask the tech if he would appreciate you gluing all of his toolbox drawers shut...
Better Yet, Don't ask.... JUST DO IT!;)
arguy 07-04-2005, 03:26 PM :funnypost :exactly: Better Yet, Don't ask.... JUST DO IT!;)
Got Juice? 07-04-2005, 03:28 PM Walk in the back with Chemrex Urethane water activated adhesive in a large tube with a Co2 pusher gun.
30 seconds and you would be done!
Then mist with water to accelerate the cure.
15 minutes later..... NO ACCESS!
