Sorry to bring up a potentially tired topic as I know this has been kicked around lots on the board...

It's not clear to me what belt length I require if I'm going to remove the vacuum pump from my 1994 rig. I'm replacing the manifolds with Type F and will address the ECM and do want to remove the vacuum pump.

It seems I've read here on the forum that I want a belt that is 99.5" in length.

Here under "serpentine", http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=332181&highlight=serpentine part numbers:

4060995 = has an effective length of 99.5"
K061010 = has an effective length of 101 5/8"

Which do I want?

Thanks all!

Pat

It can be both, depends on the truck. For a 94, I suspect you need the K061010 or 4061010 depends on the brand.

Then it depends on other things like AC, Alternator pulley, etc. Buy both, try it, return the one you don't need.

First digit 'K' is a Gates PN and '4' is a Goodyear PN
2nd and 3rd is the number of groove so '06' means 6 groove
last 4 digit is the lenght in in: 0995 is 99.5" and 1010 is 101", actually 101 5/8 is 1015.

If you would look in the FAQ & Information Sticky (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53309) and go under vacuum pump > removal, you would have seen a thread linking to this post (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3650433&postcount=3) that has all the information you are wanting... It's under belt sizes.

You will see this:

Serpentine Belt Sizes
1994-1995: 101" - 101.5"
1996+: 99.5"
Basic rule of thumb is ~1" shorter then stock belt size when removing vacuum pump. That is what you need. 101" or 101.5"...

JMJnet forgot one thing with his number breakdown. He forgot the 6k1010. Same thing though, 6 = number of grooves ; 1010 = 101" belt.

Yep, mea culpa, I found that but misread it.
