Hello i have a 2007 silverado crew cab long bed duramax and it is time for some new rubber. I want something that will do great in the off road situations but i also do a lot of driving on the road so i want something that will last. Does anyone have any picutes of the tires on there truck or anything that i could see how they look? Thanks so much in advance.

I'm a big fan of BFG ATs. I've been getting great mileage out of them, currently have 25k on the set mounted to my PYOs. I'll probably end up getting around 40k before they're due for replacement. Hope this helps.

I also would vote for the BFG's. I have them on my truck and like them very much. Mine is only a 2wd, but when I went up to the snow, they seemed to work better than I expected. They are also wearing very evenly. I can't speak for the goodyears as I have not used them. As for pics, check out my garage. Jerry.

BFG for sure!! I ran them on my old 2500 Gasser and for the first 85,000 on this truck. They are the best IMO. I've gotten around 50,000mi out of every set I've had. I rarely had to use 4x4 with them. I ran some Firestone's before my new wheels and tires and I had to use 4x4 all the time. I don't know anything about the Goodyear's. I do know that on average, the Goodyears wear much faster than the BFG's.

My feeling, GoodYear shoulda stayed with making Blimps & Prophylactics :coolio:

GoodYear Makes Tires for Light Trucks??? I ran them on a S-10 Blazer, Junk. I have had them on tractors, Junk. Been running BFG's since the mid 90's and that is all I will ever buy again.

Well, being that there doesn't seem to be any real opinions on here from people that have had both, I'll chime in. I had BFG AT KOs (265s on stockers) and I got about 22k on them. Discount Tire ended up buying them back as part of the warranty. I had the exact same tires on my 1/2 ton Chevy and loved them. Got around 60k or so out of them (can't remember exact amount). However, they sucked badly for wear on my duramax. I decided on the Duratracs, which I actually love, but they probably are only going to get about 35-40k on them, which is actually ok all things considered. Some things I have noticed as far as comparison:

1. BFGs run straight better from start to finish. The Duratracs wandered pretty good for the first few thousand miles

2. Duratracs have far superior traction off road. Not even a comparison here really. I have had both off road quite a bit during hunting, but the real test was driving in our fields during the winter. The BFGs would literally get me stuck right away. Love the duratracs in this regard. Never been stuck in them.

3. BFGs had better handling with packed slushy snow/ice. It is hard to say exactly how much better, however. I didn't feel unsafe or anything with the duratracs, so I don't want to make it sound terrible. In regular snow both tires were very good.

4. I got about the about the same mileage in both tires, but I have taken longer trips with the Duratracs and was amazed to get almost 20mpg. I wish I had done a similar trip with the BFGs to do a real comparison, so I can't pick on them for that, but I definitely never got 20mpg even on drives up to a couple hundred miles on the freeway, that much I am sure of.

5. Ok, going to be superficial here, but as far as looks I love the duratracs as they are aggressive and look great on the truck. :)

Hope this helps.

No experience with Goodyear.

265/75/16E BFGs on PYOs lasted me about 35K and they were done. They took an above average amount of weight to balance and needed rebalancing more than normal. Regular 6K rotations and nice even wear, don't tow heavy often and I don't drive it like I stole it. No complaints with traction, noise or handling they just didn't last very long.

My wife's jeep has the BFG's and my truck has the Duratracs, so its not exactly comparing apples-to-apples, but jeffster's comments seem the same as my observations. I'm a bit concerned about the Duratracs wandering/swaying while towing so far. Definitely more than the stock Bridgestones. I'm going to try running them at a higher PSI this weekend. I haven't had them in anything too gnarly yet, but they seem like they are better offroad (I'll probably find out more this weekend). The BFG's are horrible about the voids filling with stones, etc. The Duratracs pick up even bigger stones, but they clear out pretty quick upon getting back on pavement. The noise level seems exactly the same. There's a hum, but its not too bad on either. I don't like that BFG is owned by the french now and prefer buying American (Goodyear) when I can, especially on big-ticket items.

Way back when, I was selling tires I ran BFG's and liked em but they seemed to wear badly. I have had two sets of Goodyear wrangler AT's (not the duratracs) but they were good tires $$$. I'm getting four new tires on the GMC in the morning and after seeing and hearing everyone talk about the BFG AT's, I'm giving em another go! 285-70-17 on some H2 boulders. Just have to decide white letters out or in...........

I got 85k miles out of a set of BFG's. They were pretty worn out (3/16 tread left) when I traded the truck. After about 60k miles, traction went down hill considerably, but they kept me from HAVING to buy tires for another 25k miles. Never had the goodyears.
