I just got p251 code (pump rotor code)and pulled my fuel filter and the rubber part of the filter expanded about 10 times its normal size pulling the filter apart. I am running a NAPA/ WIX Gold filters and have never seen this before. I replaced the filter with a new one, and reset the codes, and then took it out for a drive getting into the throttle right out of the driveway. I guess I didn't give the lift pump enough time to refill the filter and the Surburban died about 100 feet from the driveway again setting the p251 code. I let the lift pump reprimed the system and truck ran with no problems under full load (ran it up to 105mph with the petal to the floor).
Question 1
will low fuel pressure cause a P251 code?
Question 2
why did the filter turn into crap (has about 7000 miles on it) and has anyone had this problem before?
Thanks
Kyle
