I just got p251 code (pump rotor code)and pulled my fuel filter and the rubber part of the filter expanded about 10 times its normal size pulling the filter apart. I am running a NAPA/ WIX Gold filters and have never seen this before. I replaced the filter with a new one, and reset the codes, and then took it out for a drive getting into the throttle right out of the driveway. I guess I didn't give the lift pump enough time to refill the filter and the Surburban died about 100 feet from the driveway again setting the p251 code. I let the lift pump reprimed the system and truck ran with no problems under full load (ran it up to 105mph with the petal to the floor).
Question 1
will low fuel pressure cause a P251 code?
Question 2
why did the filter turn into crap (has about 7000 miles on it) and has anyone had this problem before?
Thanks
Kyle

May want to show it to the NAPA store you bought it from?

Clear the code and see if it comes back.

Had one today with 251 code but also had 1216 with it. Reprimed system and when getting hot it was running itself out of fuel. Lift pump was getting too hot to touch after idling for ten minutes and running out of fuel again. Replaced priming pump and running fine.
