i'm running a 3 inch lift and 305/70's with plenty of room. i'm wondering what your setups are, cause i'm definitly going bigger. i eventually want to be sitting on 37's or 38's.
pic's are welcome ):h

thanks guys...

I think a 4" should fit 33's and 6" should fit 35's.

I think a 305/70 will fit in a 4".

I did some checking recently trying to decide what I was going to do. It ws between a 4" and 295's and a 6" and 315's and I decided to go with the 6" and 315's.

You can fit 37's on a 6" lift if you don't mind a little trimming and T-Bar crank. Im running 305/55R20s with no lift-just green keys

6" with 315's (35's) here. If you want 8" then go 37's.

Here is my truck:

No torsion bar cranks, and my 6" lift clears 35's with no problems.

4" with 35's, just a bit of rub on hard turns when hitting bumps, not enough to worry bout. Check sig

That pic shows less trimming than I now have to make them not rub. But the fender liner covers the trimming so it looks ok. I'll post pics later.

Well this is the best I can do right now.. They don't show the fender hacking much, but you get the idea, there at the rear lower corner of the front fender.

im considering the Cognito 7-9" lift, if i go that route, will go either 37's or 38's.........

Maybe a stickey can be done with lifts & tire sizes? Make it a group effort & put a disclaimer in it to.

Start a thread in suspension "Lift and tire setups, with pics" and I'll take care of it.

Runninghorn, you need to buy tbyrne's 7-9 so you can send me your leveling kit parts. I am sure he has the a-arm in the kit, you won't need 2.:exactly:

thought about it, but the 4 Dimes he is asking is almost what a built tranny would run me, so I dunno. I just know when i lifted my F350 it wasnt near as expensive..........

_nar_

Well if you go with a rcd it will only be about 1800. Lot cheaper than the cognito. I am sure he has every option cognito makes with the kit too.

So are you saying that, putting the green key in and some trimming will allow you 35's???

Yes, but what do you care go back to Cumapartland):h

6" suspension and a 3" body lift will get you to 38s

Yes.
I didn't even put green keys in, although I have a set from my last 1/2 ton truck so I might later. Right now my stock keys are up nearly al the way. I trimmed quite a bit in the back, about 1.5 inchs. This is with a 10 inch wide wheel, with 4.5 backspacing. With an 8 inch wheel or maybe 5 inch backspacing there would be less trimming. There was a guy on here that had 35s on stock wheels with it cranked up and I don't think he even trimmed. He sold his truck a couple months ago. I would rather have at least an 8 inch wheel, a 10 is even better for this wide a tire. I trimmed mine a lot because I offroad all the time on the farm and in the mud and stuff so I didn't want rubbing when doing that. So far I am pretty happy with it. I'm goign to order a 2 inch block or aal for the back and a set of bilsteins and leave it that way for now I think...

Bodysurfer and _nar_ the trucks look good.
What did you have to do with the Allison automatic to make it work with the larger tires?
I'd like to go with 31" on my daily driver and Chevy has that paranoia about upping the tire size. I've heard you can reprogram the comp to accept any tire size with something like The Edge or Bulldog chip programmers or change out a gear to reduce the rpms the trans sees bac kdown to stock. Which did you all do?

Thanks,

BD

i did nothing with 37's and i like it how it is now more than stock, it doesnt go over 2000 rpm's at 80mph, and that helps millage alot

Do any of you guys with the 4" and 6" lifts pull bumper type campers? If so does it still pull good?

Thanks. I ran mine for a while with 285s and didn't do anything. I didn't have any problems. Well except the speedometer being off about 4 mph at 75. Later I got the predator programmer and set it for the tire size. The edge doesn't change the size in your computer, it just displays the correct speed on it's display, since it's a plug in chip. Programmer types like the predator, bullydog, quad etc can set the tire size right in the computer.

I don't have quite that much lift, but a lot of what affects the pulling ability is tire size too. Whatever tire you get, be sure to get a wide enough wheel for it, otherwise towing will suck. You need the tire's tread to be as flat as possible so there is less wander with the trailer. Also of course you want decent weight rated tires and wheels. I tow a 4000 lb trailer at least once a week most of the year with no problems. On occasion I pull the flatbed with about 6 tons of hay on it, no problems. But I don't usually go very fast with that since it doesn't have trailer brakes and I don't go very far with it. With the 285s I never had a problem. I have towed the little trailer with the 315s now and not had a problem so far either. It almost seemed better since I have wheels on these that are right for the tire width, rather than stock narrow wheels on the 285s.

I don't understand why some people and some lift kits say that a 4" lift fits 33's. Unless I'm mistaken 285/75-r16 is a 33" tall tire and I've got them on my truck and have yet to touch the torsion bar adjusters. Just trimmed a little here and there.

So when are you going to sell the Finger Flares? I would go for 36s with no lift, are you still using the Bush Whacker Cutout on the back.

Bushwacker cutouts in the back. There would be room for 36's, but not as wide as these beasts.

i have 35" 12.50 x 17 procomps x terrain on h2 wheels on a 2 wheel drive with the torsion bars cranked, and minor trimming, but i do have replacement bumpers that give a lot more clearance than stock bumpers.

I only have 17 x 10s, but in the back I have the correct track spacers, so that makes em look wide. No real problems with chips, but only have 13,000 miles so.
