Hello, I have a 94 1500 Silverado with the 6.5TD, and HD auto. How do I know if the truck has been prewired? If it has not, what kit should I buy and the best controller for bumper pulling approximately 5-6k. Thanks, MDE

I assume your talking about trailer wiring? If so you can look under the back of the truck for a larger red wire and if memory serves me correctly a blue wire. The red wire is the battery wire and the blue is for the brake controller. If you find them under the back then you still have to find the other end under the hood. It seems mine were taped under the master cylinder somewhere.

If you don't find these two wires its probably not prewired.

hope this help and is what your asking for

I seem to remember some of those wires under the hood. What about the wiring for the controller? Will it be in the cab? Thanks, MD

The wire is either red or most of the time orange and it is with a blue wire. Pull the out and wire them up also under the hood they will be taped along the firewall under the master cylinder. Pull them up and you can attach them to the distribution box( orange wire) then wire your brake controll in. Under the dash your brake signal wire is white.
