Okay, two part question.

This morning I was doing my usual commute, you know, trying to get to work while dodging the idiots. Okay, I am running tow/haul in traffic and have to nail my brakes, then goose it, then let off. About a second after I let off the go peddle I feel like I have been rear ended. I look in my mirrors, but nothing! So what was it? Maybe a bad downshift? Never felt anything THAT HARSH before (except a wreck!).

Okay, question number 2. I am stopped in the turn lane ready to make the left turn into my office complex. As I turn the wheel and go, I hear this loud "scape & groan" from my steering wheel/ column. What's up with this? Also a new sound. I haven't had a chance to repeat it, maybe at lunch?

Not the worst things to happen in the morning, but not fun either!

Thanks!

Cant help ya much w/the first problem, tho ill venture a guess that maybe it had something to do w/the Torque convertor unhooking from all the stop and go...just a guess..
#2 is something many have been experiencing a awful noise from the steering column. Had mine replaced twice, and this 2nd one is the worst by far.... Dont believe its really hurting anything but sure sounds like sh!t when i does it....

I think the first was just a glitch in the Allison "fuzzy" math grade breaking. The steering column has made an ocasional "whine" when turning hard, just nothing that loud before. So far no repeat. Does your turn signal make a fast light clicking sound when engaged and turning the wheel? Mine sounds like the aliens in "Signs".

cdhd,
I had the same "scrape and groan" about 8 months ago. The stealer advised it was another bad intermediate steering shaft. They lubed it (since they didn't have another shaft - nationwide backorder) and it quit the "S & G" until about a month ago. I'm going back for a new ISS soon. Not saying yours is the same, but that was my stealers story and they're sticking to it !
