I posted a pic of my new '05 D/A on the Chevelle site I frequent, and this guy pipes up about how 60% of chevy diesels are junk and he hopes I got the good one they built that day, blah, blah. So, I invited him over here to discuss why he feels this is true. Some people just live to rain on your parade.

It could be because he's jealous of what you have, a sweet car and an even sweeter truck. Some people are just idiots.

There is no disputing the Duramax has had somewhat 'major' injector issues. As with any new design or product of course there are going to be some bugs to work out but that comes with anything new. Your LLY is a new design of the older LB7, injector failures seem to be significantly less on the LLY's (from what i've seen) and are definately more easier to replace than the LB7's.

And as far as the transmission is concerned the Allison is far superior to 'torqueshift' from ford or the 48RE of dodge

:exactly: Just look at what Ford went through on the 6.0! They all have problems from the pressure of trying to get something to market ASAP. GM was taking even more risk by going out of the box to have a quieter more powerful diesel and all the technology in the Dmax. All in all, this thing has exploded in popularity and the injectors don't seem to have scared too many away. Like it was said before, he's just the jealous type and very behind on his data (probably his education too) !

Jealousy makes people say and do somethings without too much thought behind it. It was obviously a statement made without proper knowledge to support the "facts". I would not lose any sleep over the deal. You know the quality of truck that you have and don't really need to prove that to anyone. Just nice and politely challenge him to an on track race to find out how well his truck stacks up to yours. Time to educate the accusor!

Ignorance, jealousy or both... Most of the time it is the first one.. I would just not worry about it.. Some people open their mouths before they have time to think..

Regret learning of what happened and the cost of repairing the damage. On the bright side, now is time to take a trip out West. We can run her thru the sage brush and willows, cover her with Nevada pin stripes and camo the damages done. Also have a good time doing it. Just a thought.
