: Crew Cab headliner loose?
greeneb 06-30-2005, 11:58 PM If you push up in the middle of your headliner (like where the lights are), does it move up some or is it solid? Mine seems loose feeling, went by a local dealer and hopped another crew cab and it was the same way. But is it normal? Seems pretty crappy to me.
Thanks,
EG
03GMC2500HD 07-01-2005, 07:53 AM Yep, same here. took it to the dealer also and the others were like it too. Never noticed it for the first two years and thought it was sagging. Guess its normal!
greeneb 07-01-2005, 09:52 AM Thanks for the reply. Seems like they could do better on that, but oh well... pretty minor thing, just was curious.
Great forums!

CStone 07-01-2005, 11:24 AM I'm glad someone brought this up. I was going to take mine to the $tealer to get fixed, which would be a major PITA because of taking off the goodies first...
Sounds like something I'm going to have to live with. That sux, but not as much as going through the hassle of taking it to the dealer only to be told "Eh, it's normal."
smshiver 07-01-2005, 04:38 PM My dealer sent me to Auto Trim to have it fixed. Much improved.
GS340 07-02-2005, 08:40 AM Mine does the same thing. 2005 crew 2500HD with 500 miles on the clock. All the crew cabs I looked at did the samething. I did notice the hotter it was the more you could push on it.
JhnZ71 07-02-2005, 09:19 AM yeah, there are only a couple "clips" that hold it up. I took my truck to the dealer to have it fixed. But my subs seem to have rattled it loose again
Both my old '04 gasser that I sold, and the '03 D/A I have now do this. Seems really cheap to me.
NorCal 2500HD 07-06-2005, 02:36 AM I had that same problem til i put the tv in there.....

How did you mount the tv to the roof???
pics?

CStone 07-08-2005, 09:27 AM I guess I'll wait till I have something else MAJOR wrong with the truck or just before the 36k warranty expires and I'll take it in to get fixed.
mightyvh 07-08-2005, 10:00 AM My headliner was curling down over the doors after the first year....Dealer replaced. I was hoping that they had inproved it but the replacment appears to be identical to the original
flduramax 07-09-2005, 02:09 AM Mine does it too.. Its not too hard to mount a flip down tv to the roof. Trim the headliner and attach bracket to the roof... run wires ... mount tv to bracket.
2fast2 07-11-2005, 08:37 PM Mine does it too. Had the headliner replaced under warranty last week. The new one sags just like the original. WTF???
And now my A-pillar trim is screwed up on the driver's side. I just need to find the time to take it back and waste a few more hours in the uncomfortable waiting room.
It sounds to me like there is adhesive or double sided tape which fails to hold up the headliner. I'm sure an aftermarket trim shop would fix it with some 3M adhesive. I was foolish enough to think the dealer would do that under warranty.
Good luck.
skoryaro2 07-12-2005, 09:50 AM My '05 was the same way right off the lot. Took it to the dealer the following week and they fixed it (so far so good). Tech said the double sided tape had failed - he replaced it with 3M IIRC.
CStone 07-12-2005, 02:19 PM LOL. Sticky tape on a $40k-$50k vehicle. I'm not complaining. It's just amazing to me.
wjjeeper 07-12-2005, 02:56 PM Seems like all manufacturers suffer from this kind of problem. I had a 2000 BMW 328CI and the trim around the doors would fall down when it sat in the sun. My friends 2003 BMW M3 did the same thing too and that's a $75k car!!
Best to just deal with these little things yourself and not bother wasting time at the dealer....

There must be tape in there 'cause when I push my up and hold it, it will make a sound like pulling duct tape off the roll. My O3 was the same way.
Mike330R 08-01-2005, 11:00 AM Mine was sagging as well. Took it in and the re-glued it. Had to let is sit and dry over night but now it's all good.
CStone 08-16-2005, 01:24 PM Took mine to the dealer for other issues, including headliner. Service rep just called me and told me that they were going to order a new headliner for the truck. Of course, I'm thinking that if they put the new one up with the same crappy tape, I'll be in the same situation afterwards that I'm in now.
