Hey guys, i finally got my new truck. Its a 2009 6.6liter duramax. Its a straight up boss. I really dont wan to void the warranty on it so i am looking for some suggestions on stuff that i can do to make the exhaust louder without voiding the warranty of the truck. Also just anything in general i can do without voiding the warranty on the truck to make it that much better.

Changing the DPF exhaust to anything else will not help much if any on a louder sound. You can remove the muffler but I hear it does not help much. Not much else one can do without voiding warranty on these trucks. If something wears out and they find a non stock item related to the issue then they may void. Best thing is you need the warranty then don't mod.

Some dealers are mod friendly, others aren't. The dealer my town will take the DPF off, but i have not heard what they do for warranty.

What about a cutout or such. My cousin put one on his dodge and it sounds great. Not sure if that would void it or not though.

I think a filter back system is the best you can do til the warranty ends.

i agree with not all dealers are the same --
my dealer will still waranty with 6 inch lift and exhaust -- cause they are selling brand new trucks with the 6 inch lift and exhausts.
i guess it helps when the owner of the dealership drives one of them, so i guess he's more understanding.
all within means -- as long as they dont get in trouble i guess -- some stuff is easier to get covered than others.
you can do wheels and tires ! and maybe paint your chevy emblems -- lol
godd luck with the new truck

Best bet is to go talk to the dealer your going to bring it to for warranty work. If you have them install the exhaust im sure they will be able to get things warrantied for you down the road. Wheels and tires should be no problem and would be the first thing id throw at it. Nice truck.

Thats what i am doing. I called them yesterday and asked if they were to install te lift, exhaust, etc would it still be warrantied. They answered yes, but only so long as the products are pre approved by us. So once i find the lift, exhaust and etc that i want, i send it to them. They then tell me whats ok and whats not. Pretty cool of them to do that if i do say so myself.

I would ask what they consider "ok" before i went and bought it. But that sounds like a good deal!

lol. I know haha. I find the things i want to put on it, put it in a list. Send it to them. When they approve, i buy it and take it to them.
