Out of all who runs decent 60' times, who's running what pinion angle? i just measured plus 2 degrees...thats not enough for a leaf sprung suspension especially with the amount of torque to the wheels...this could be why i can't 60' my way out of a wet paper bag. My coil spring Olds drag car has 6 degrees and it goes 1.54. If nobody wants to give up any secerets i understand... if anybody DOES want to give up what they learned, please do!

Some guys are running Traction Bars............

Some guys are clamping the spring pack in front of the axle only.

I clamp my springs and have netted a 1.75 as my best to date.

i'm still curious what pinion angle everyone has... if we find the sweet spot might not have to drop the front so much... i'm guessing 6-8 degrees and i'm gonna try it with wedges

i can see clamping might control how much wrap up one gets under power......

I wedged mine. You want the angles to be equal and opposite at each end of shaft to cancel each other out.

The more you "preload" the rear, the more you pick up the front. I had to take out all preload on my caltracs because I was picking up the front end and losing traction in the front. Also tire pressures help out a lot in getting a better 60'.

just from a lil drag racing knowledge...you never want a zero pinion angle!!! but as far as these trucks go dont know what the sweet spot is... my race car is 2 down but not stock style suspension...

You never want 0° on any joint whether a 2 pc shaft or other also. The issue is that whatever you dial in will be erased by axle wrap unless you put on a set of traction bars like my Caltracs.

Not quite following you John :help2: ???

What pinion angle do you want to have for best 60' and what were you able to get your 60's down to?

Regardless even if you have traction bars isnt your pinion andle going to change slightly on launch?

Dont people adjust thier pinion angle on thier cars even without using traction bars knowing that things are going to move and they want it to be at a certian point durring launch?

oh....fpc I run caltracs too, I got em from Trippin(www.socaldiesel.com) and am pretty pleased with how they controll the axel wrap.
