In hydraulic systems you never put the fine filter in the suction line to the pump because of the risk of burning it up.

I know the Dmax fuel system is not the same as a high flow hydraulic system but the same problem exist, that is trying to suck through a filter instead of pushing through.

What would happen if you left the OE filter in place and added a big 2 micron (Cat) just before the fuel returned to the tank? Next to the cooler somewhere? Would it do any good? I'm not sure how much fuel is actually returned to the tank, I would think a quit a bit.

Just a thought.......

I am sure it would work fine and yor fuel tank would be getting good clean fuel but the engine needs the clean fuel, not the tank.

A large volume of fuel is returned to the tank. What percentage I am not sure, but I am sure more than half. with a system like you are talking about, you would have nice clean fuel going to the engine after a full tank of fuel was burned down to 1/2 tank or so. But if your fuel is dirty, the first 1/2 tank or so going through the injectors will be dirty.

I have a 2 micron MEGA from Kennedy. It is post OEM, and I did have a stalling problem. Now with a lift pump, I believe I have the best setup possible..........lift pump to OE filter to Kennedy MEGA filter to engine. SPICER
