Sounds like the CD mechanism is going bad. Have you tried it after letting the unit cool down first? Sometimes they get so hot that they screw up.

Same thing happened to me in two vehicles. One was an 03 GMC, the other an 03 Chevy.

To get the cd out, i would unfold a paperclip and guide it out. On the other unit, I had to use tweezers to get it out. I eventually replaced both units with factory 6-disc changers that "audiophiles" had upgraded from.

There was a TSB on this, dealer re flashed mine and has worked ever since. But I am guessing your is out of warranty now. I had mine done several years ago.

Take the radio out of the dash just far enough to remove the top cover (four screws) and lift the CD out.

Find a pail of water to set radio in, for a final fix. :D
Buy new head unit before you have any other problems.

With the tweezers, I was able to grab the CD by the outer 1/8th inch and didn't damage the CD.

I have a similar issue with My 05' 6 CD player. radio works, display shows there are 3 CD's inside the unti but won't play, recognize or eject any of them.

Thoughts beyond those stated previously for the single disc units?

Thanks,

Steve
