Is Juice/Attitude and Edge/Attitide the same thing? I understand Attitude is the gauges/controls-right? See Sig. What would work best for some light 'playing', but mostly for improved mileage and better towing? I know I will need a new clutch, FW, & T.O.bearings. I guess max. HP increase will depended on new clutch/FW capabilities? All info is appreciated.

The VA is a smooth chip, and I know that many of the others arent smooth.

It is also known for economy. If youre towing a lot, you might want to look into something around 50 horse.

Get a predator, and youll know why you need smooth power.

BigOL3,

I also use the VA...I have the 0-70-110 HP version that I purchased from Kennedy Diesel. I borrowed a friends Quad, while the power was good, the throttle was to sensitive. Around 1800 RPMs the truck would just take off. I don't know if the newer Quads are like this or not, this unit was an older version.

The VA is very smooth. It has little impact until around 1500 RPMs and comes on smooth from there to red line. The turbo seems to spool very fast...cruising at 65 with 5 pounds of boost and floor the go peddle, the boost will jump to 25 pounds very fast! Not to mention some nice smoke coming out of the tailpipe!!!

Your signiture does not list that you have gauges, if not then the Juice/Attitude might be a good choice or the VA with gauges (Kennedy can set you up with a gauge package also).

Let me know if you have any questions.

Have had both a Quad and the VA. The VA is much smoother, I would recommend the VA for the ZF/6 setup.

MaxRock,
Thanks for the info. The gauges was another concern. I understand the Attitude has different readings which replace the gauges, BUT how would the Juice perform--specifically with the ZF6. Does the built-in Allison info in the Juice cause a problem with ZF6? Or do all chips have this built in Allison info?

The VA sounds very good, I just want to get the best(not necessarily the fastest) that will work with the ZF6. Isn't the VA and Bullydog the same? Do they all only have 2 HP setting, i.e., 70/110? I was wondering if 70 was too much for towing (pretty good loads-GVW 26-30K)?--since I am not sure how much the aftermarket clutch/FW will hold.

I'm on the same quest.Everyone here says VA for 6spd's,but it doesn't have guages.I'm sold on having 4-5 settings but maybe that's not necessary. I'd like to have a 40-60hp for towing and a moderate one 70-95hp and a kill setting! I'd like to see a VA though.

If you are at max weight, I dont think that you will be able to run much of anything without EGT concerns.

The VA is not bullydog. Van Aaken is a european company.

They come with a flip switch, or a knob. Stock, 50, 110 or whatever #'s you have programmed into it.

If you are towing at max weight, you will surely want the switch on the fly back to stock I think.

I assume besides EGT gauge, I would need larger exhaust? How high will EGT get under heavy tow when stock?

What is the min.-max. usable HP for towing with ZF6?

With my truck bone stock and not lugging the engine pulling a 10,500# 5er, the max EGTs were in the 1200 - 1300 range (well within the safety limits of the engine). When I installed my exhaust, I could not get the EGT out of the green area (about 1000 - 1100 degF) pulling the 5er.

Now with the VA I've only towed my 5er once. The terrain was flat with rolling hills, I had my VA set on 70 and I didn't notice much of an increase in EGTs. Now, if I have to climb a 7% for several miles, I'm sure it would be a different story.

So far the DMF and factory clutch do not seem to have a problem with the VA on 70 when towing. I am playing with the 110 setting and I believe I've slipped the clutch a few times. I have to quit this until someone gets an aftermarket flywheel/clutch setup.

Man, you are lucky. My clutch/FW would not hold up under stock conditions.

Hello , You should look into the juice with attitude , it gives you 5 levels of pedal sensitivity , 5 levels of power that can be changed on the fly from the readout pod , provides power back down on shifts to protect the tranny , power backdown keyed by exhaust gas temp that you can set the level plus several more features . From what Iv heard id defintley go with the edge or van aaken, i personally would go with the edge b/c of the gauges, funds didnt allow for the edge right now, but even with the superchips on level 3 the clutch will slip going up a slight grade, so yea id say a better clutch and flywheel would be a top priority
