Maybe it was coincidence or maybe something happened...There was a thunder storm that blew through the area and a bolt hit VERY close to my truck. 2 minutes later I get in the truck and start it...no drive, reverse, etc. I shut off the truck and sit for 1 minute. The truck starts fine but now the indicator does not display the gear? For example, when i put the truck in drive, the PRND12 is displayed, but does not have the small line under the selected gear. Also, the reverse lights do not work now. I checked fuses for a couple minutes, with no results. What may have happened? How can I get the indicator to come back? I will check all fuses tonight. Weird huh?

Sounds like the NSBU is the problem due to the rain. Neutral safety back up switch,

Max,
Thanks for the reply. Where is this switch located? How do I test if it is the problem?

Its located on the driver side of the trans just above the pan, look to see what color it is if its black or tan. Its probably black. Its about the size of a index card and has the linkage attached through it.

Whats a level 10 Trans? Is it aftermarket or what? Still under warantee?

Level 10 is a local trans shop that builds/upgrades transmissions for many race/performance applications. The trans is completely rebuilt with all the upgrades. The truck is going to the shop in a couple days to get the upgrade. It will come with a 1year unlimited mile warranty. As far as "holding" power, they told me to put whatever I can put to it and smiled. VERY knowledgeable guys. I will put as much power as I can to it and let everyone know. Now, I just need SD to get back from his trip....I need tierods, lift pump, and a little bottle of Rx ;) .

Cool, make sure when you get her done you post in the aftermarket section your initail impressions and then impressions after a bit of flogging. Weres abouts are they/you? You might also see if you can drag em over here as others may be interested in hearing thier approach. Have em talk to Nick about becoming a vendor if interested. We are always in search of other ways to skin cats and who has the better mouse trap.
A new tan updated NSBU switch may be the ticket and can easily be installed when they do the upgrade. The switch is only 50 or so bucks. Or you can swap it now. If its flaking out on you have you tried cycling through the gears a few times(P-1) to see if it stops being wierd? Sounds like an NSBU but could be something else.....hopefully lightning didnt cause goofy things......

I live in NW New Jersey. I will post my results and try to get a list from them of the parts/work that was upgraded. It is hard for someone to say I have an "upgraded" trans but do not know what it includes. This company only offers 1 trans upgrade for the allison and it is the most they can put into it. The price, for labor, TC, and internals (valve, clutches, fluid, etc.) is around $5400.
Thanks for all the info on the switch. I was just reading the post on the warranty too.

Is the transmisison shifting OK? If it's not you may have blown a fuse to the transmission computer. If it is working then I agree that the NSBU switch needs to be replaced. Depending on which model year you have you may need either the tan switch or the new black switch with the single connector.

The NSBU switch was replaced when the new trans was completed. The tech said they had a the truck hooked up to the computer before they removed the trans. The truck was not indicating a change in gear. The NSBU was replaced and now the computer "sees" the gear selected. I still have a problem. The trucks reverse lights do not illuminate when in R, the small indicator under each gear is not illuminated in the dash, and when the truck goes in park, the doors do not unlock (as it is set that way). What can be in addition to this problem?
On the bright side, I can now run the stack with the new trans:ro)
