I was on the way to IRP doing 70mph going around an 18 wheeler. The tank was very near full. Suddenly, the gauge dropped to the bottom and the low fuel light came on. The truck kept going and I just watched the gauges. none of the others changed. I began to think that maybe a fuse had popped. . . about that time the light came off and the gauge returned to where it should have been. It never did this again on the 2200+ trip.
OK, anyone with ideas about what caused this?

Surge in power from the sending unit? Might have tripped the gauge... Minor glitch in power can do that from what I understand..I would have it looked at if it does it again..

I suppose? The truck was running on cruise control so it was not the result of mashin the pedal. Also, the sending unit was moved from the stock tank to a 53gal SuperTank. I have been runnin this tank since March. No sending unit problems.
Possible that wiring lost it's ground do to something and then re-gained it?

I figured doin' that speed the entire way would give me some useful data points for calculating how to reset my tiresize and calculate my mpg. I am sure I ran over a few school zones. . . . long ride by myself. Any how, GPS and my eyeball on the speedo showed that the speedo dead on at 70mph on flat highway the gps was reading 70.5mph with the tire size set a 33.75" for 315R75/16 BFG A/Ts. When I set the tire size up to 34.00" speedo showed going 1.5+mph faster than the GPS. The mpg on the trip was 19.8 with Quad at Economy and HJAT at 0. I am surprised that it was not more. I suppose the 7700" lifted truck with big tires, etc has caused an impact on mpg.
Oh well, once I start making my own BD the mpg won't be something I will worry about !!
