I've been reading and searching for a few days now and I think I have this figured out but want to make sure before I spend a bunch of money on something I don't like.

I am wanting a nav system for my 08 ltz and need to decide between a factory or aftermarket unit. As best I can tell, if I go aftermarket I lose my rear seat entertainment and have to spend a couple hundred on adapters to make everything work right. Because of this I have pretty much decided to go with a factory setup. (Please let me know if I am mistaken)

So as best I can tell, I need to find a factory head unit with nav and dvd, something called a lock pic so I can use it when in motion, an ipod adapter, and then I may or may not need dealer programing.

Am I missing anything so far???

Lastly, I read about the lux upgrade. Is this upgrade just for the pre '07 body style. I had an 04 with the bose and it kinda sucked. However the bose in my 08 ltz is great imo. Does it get better with the lux upgrade? Thanks for the help.

Rosen:confused:

Rear Seat Entertainment: The Rosen Multimedia Navigation headunit is compatible with factory rear seat video entertainment. The selected video source for the unit's rear video output can be displayed on your vehicle's factory overhead monitor, even though you will not be able to view it on the unit's built-in LCD monitor while you are driving.
Note: The same audio from the vehicle speakers will play through the factory rear seat audio.

If you get a 2010 model NAV it has a USB port for your iPod. This is what I added to my 09. Plug and play. LockPick has been a little squirrely and no longer needed for NAV in motion as the 2010 lets you enter addresses while moving. It is needed for video in mortion though.

Thanks for the input guys. So does my parts list seem ok? Will everything work together ok?

Anyone with a similar setup on an LTZ have some pics?

What if I just want to switch out my Factory Nav head unit for a factory Nav/DVD head unit? is that possible?

yea you can swap them but the dvd will not play on the front screen while driving... Just have to have the new unit programmed for your truck.
