ok soo i just bought my truck (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/#) on feb 1st(its a 2004)an no problems out of it except sometimes the radio works an other times it doesnt it doesnt make any sense useally you have to turn the truck off an let it set for a while sometimes couple hrs sometimes overnight and sometimes you can shut it off an start it up an it works an sometimes you can be driven down the road an all the sudden it comes back on. now it doesnt only do it for the radio it doesnt play anything cd tape radio none of em soo anyone know anything??????

Is it the OEM radio? When no sound is present, is the display lit? Does it respond to channel changes, when no sound is present? Does it say "Bose" on the speakers?
Are there any aftermarket accesories on the truck that would be wired to the databus?

yes it is the oem radio an yes it has bose on it an yes it acts as if everything is playin cd u can change tracks i put my ipod adapter in the casset an it acts like it plays an the station changes an as far any after market parts no the truck is bone stock

My father in law had the same problem with his OEM radio. FM tuner would not make a sound, AM worked, Satelite radio worked, CD player worked.

Made no sense at all. He finally just had to have a new one put in. No shop, not even a dealership could figure it out. The antenna wire was just fine also.

It would sound to me as if the standalone Amplifier has an internal solder problem, or loose plug, or loose (poor) fuse. The headunit itself is probably fine.

im wanting to just put in a after market cd player like a sony or clairion wud this be something that would occur still if i do replace it ??????

When I bought my truck used at 30k miles half the lights on the radio didnt work. They replaced it under warrenty , 2 yrs later half the lights went out again,no biggie, but the other day I went to eject the cd and it wont come out. These radios are crap and should be replaced with an aftermarket unit at the first sigh of malfunction.

everything on my radio works fine but i just lost my lights on the display....is my radio finished or is there a fuse for this????????
