Anyone have any experience with these? I know their oil filters are a no-no but this valve looks okay.

Any opinions on it?

I know about the Fumoto valve but I would like to install one this weekend and don't have time to order.

I just did my first oil change and installed a Fumoto.. My suggestion is to go with a proven valve, Fumoto.. I bought from http://www.kennedydiesel.com. They were fast with shipping... Call them and see if they can get you one out Fed-X...

Cheers.

I've had a Fram sure drain on my truck for over three years. Great product. The only thing from Fram worth buying. It works great and is very low profile and has a screw on cap, too. IIRC the SD-2 is the one that fits the Duramax.

Thanks for the input!

I was able to find a place locally that carried the Fumoto. Dang though! $34 for the N-type. I wonder why the little nipple for a hose is almost $10 more?

Now all I need is a short 3gal gas can to dump it into.

Because it is handy and they know people will pay the 10 bucks to have it.

I changed mine earlier this week (before I added the vavle) and had spillage due to the skid plates. The valve with nipple will make it MUCH MUCH easier next time.

I have used both. A fumoto many years ago (worked well), and the Fram valve on two trucks, including the current one.

I liked the fumoto, but the locking ball valve lever always made me nervous. The right twig, sticking up out of the mud could open it.

I prefer the double-seal nature of the fram design. The cap would have to come off, and something would have to hold open the check valve.

I don't use the orange hose, just the screw-on nipple, which makes it easy to not drain onto the skid plate. Taking oil samples with either would be easy too.

Just make sure you don't lose the nipple between changes.

I use the Fram, works good but a little slow on draining.

Sorry but I don't know what the fuss is about. I used an air ratchet and a 15mm socket - took 5 minutes to take off the so-called skid plate (aluminum...come on). The oil fell just right and missed the cross member. To do the filter I turned two pieces of aluminum foil into one, wrapped the u-joint and funneled it to the container. Loosened it till it started draining, waited 10 minutes and took it off. I didn't even get any on me. My 7.4 liter Burb was impossible to do cleanly...another 5 min to get the plate on and I was in business!

BTW those 5 quart Mobil Truck and Suv containers are sweet! It took about a minute each to empty...

I have a Fomoto drain valve and I put a hose on it to drain . I take my
skid plate off when changing oil so I can Grease all zerts .
The fomoto Valve is a good replacement for rounded off drain plug head .

I have the Fram valve too and like it. It's a little slow all right, but while the oil's draining I can grease the susp. fittings and inspect for anything out of the ordinary undeneath..

Did a change with the fumoto for the first time last weekend and it is pretty slow flowing as well. I bet it is super slow with cold oil.

Sure was easy though!
