My 95 was developing a stumble under heavy throttle, I thought it was the fuel filter as I had not changed it in 30,000KM. After I changed it the truck would not start. No fuel at all from air bleed on top of filter. Jumped fuel relay pin 30-87 lift pump runs but still no fuel... Filled the filter bowl will fresh fuel and cranked the heck out of it until it started. Like an idiot opened water removal valve near thermostat housing and truck stalled. Managed to get it started and drove it to work this morning. Could it be anything else other than lift Pump? What do they go for $$ ??

Gotta have fuel for them to run, reprime the bowl manually as before, jumper the relay again, get it started let idle for about 5 min or so to get all residual air out out, then slowly crack water drain at idle, if she starts to stumble or dies, I think you are on track as from your prior description sounds like bad lift pump, not uncommon, not a terribly expensive part, been a while since I bought one $75-80 from dealer IIRC, I think can be gotten for less at auto stores, got mine under extended warranty plan they specified dealer part only.

Thanks TD, got the truck running last night and drove it in this Morning. I wonder how long it has been bad? Last time I changed the fuel filter 6-8 months ago, same problem getting it to start. Back then I did not know how to bleed air out of the filter. Oh well we will see how it runs with a new pump.

If it dies when you open the system at idle, the OPS isn't powering the LP. This would account for the stumble at speed as well.

It did die when I opened the drain valve. I had the pump running on a jumper and no fuel coming out of the air bleed. When I pulled the filter back out the bowl was almost dry. I just went out and started the truck, touched the lift pump and it is definitely vibrating. I was going to check for power with my test light at the pump but when I unplugged the harness from the pump the vibration stopped....truck still ran... I am pretty sure I have power from the OPS to the pump.

Ok, but if you can't get fuel to flow out when you open the air bleed you have a problem with supply pressure. It might be good to measure it.

I now have lift pump control harness kits available for the 6.5 and soon will have a direct plumb in (needs 2 mounting holes drilled) upgraded lift pump as well...

Changed lift pump, cut apart old one (inquiring minds need to know) and found the return spring broken in 3 pieces. Pump stilll made noise, but no pressure. Thanks to all for reply's. Dan
